I'd like to put permanent power for my receiver winch at the back of the truck. I am thinking about either the Warn wire kit or DIY to save money.

The plan would be to run 2 or 4 gauge wire from the battery to the rear of the truck. I would add a solenoid (like in the Warn kit) so the power is only on when the truck is running. I am not the best DIYer so trying to get a sense if this is a job I can pull off. Here are the questions:

    1. Solenoid to purchase and how to connect? My winch can pull up to 220 amps.
    2. Advice on best path for wire run from battery to rear.
    3. On Ebay you can find winch power buttons for the Tacoma. This seems like a nice to have; I like the idea of a winch power button in truck. Should I consider? Any write-up on how to connect?
    4. Do I connect power directly to battery or is there a better way to go?
    5. Best quick-connect value?

    Thanks.
