rear wheel bearings

    how much trouble is it to change front and rear wheel bearings?

    better question is why? should be under warranty....

    not having any problem, but guy that worked on my wifes car said bearing housing on toyota had to be cut out with a torch, just trying to find out if he is right

    New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
    the rear bearings are pressed onto the axle, torching not recommended. Front wheel bearings on a two wheel Taco 6 lug need the same, the staked nut is removed, then a press is needed to change out the bearing....as far as using a torch, I can not think of any reason to use one...is this guy a Toyota mechanic?

    Now why would you want to go through all that trouble when it comes as a sealed unit four bolts and done. Learned this a long time ago work smarter not harder.

    The front that is, not the rear axle.

    The only reason I could thing of that he would need a torch is it makes splitting the bearing race easier if its a pain to get off.

    the front and rear bearings can be a super PITA sometimes, i have had it take almost 50t to get the front ones done lol
