Do some of your guys trucks ever touch dirt or go out in the rain for that matter? After reading on how concerned some people are about a dealership washing their truck. Just talking about washing not talking about a full on detail it's making me wonder how some of these trucks leave the garage. I was a teenager when I started working at the dealership I worked at 10 years ago. No I wasn't making money to run out and buy games. There are good hard working people out there that take pride in what they do. I was making money to buy new vehicles, buy ATV parts, actually buy things for myself while my friends were getting these things from their parents.

Would I let the dealership to a full on detail on my truck.....nope! I learned how to use a buffer at the dealership (enough said right there). But there are detail places that do that for a reason and just like every other business there are good ones and bad ones.

I mean at the end of the day OP it makes no difference to me if you wash your truck or not lol. But I think some people need to remember it's just a truck (Yes, I said it) and it will probably get dirty. In which if you want to spend 4 hours cleaning on a Saturday or want to go through the drive through wash do what makes you happy. I do both and have the clean truck most of the time.

I let the dealer wash mine, but I also used a clay bar and applied a wax within a week. It looked good, no swirls or marks when they did it. When I take it in for service, I'll just tell to skip the wash next time. I actually like washing my truck. @smitty99 is right about off-roading a black truck. I love going through mud and stuff, but I hate the 3 hours of cleaning later.

My wife works at the dealership and we've had Resistall on another vehicle. We just had it installed on the truck last week. On our Kia Sedona, I went about 3 months without washing it, through love bugs, road gunk and rains, the white was looking gray-ish. A simple hand wash and all the bugs came right off, road grime washed away easily and it looked great again. I'm not selling it, but I'd put it on any vehicle I won because it works really well and you get a warranty when you buy it. Oh, and they apply it to the interior, too and stains are covered under that warranty. I guess it's like Scotch guard in that case. I know folks have a bad opinion about finance office add on-ones but this one works for me.

I don't have a problem with the dealer washing my new vehicles but its something that I enjoy as a little "project" when purchasing.

Right Smitty? I bought a truck so I could worry a little less about keeping her as clean as my sportier cars. Some people...

If you plan on keeping your new vehicle looking like new for at least 10+ years, then always DYI, no car wash and it will always look detailed.
But If not, almost any paint job will look decent for the next few years from a car wash place.

Always use the right method (two bucket) use a top brand car wash soap, I use Mother’s but any top brand like Maguire’s will do great and never ever use dish washing liquid like smityy did on his, and destroyed his paint job as it removes the oils from the paint.

After washing and drying get an old beat up bath towel and wipe the inside of the doors all around and the wheels to avoid water spots. Then open the hood and wipe everything in there you can get to, except the A/C lines.
Do not touch those fookers EVER if you can avoid them as it’s very easy to cause an A/C evaporator leak from you handling them.
Your engine compartment will look better than a brand new car if you do this after every wash years after till trade in time.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

some of us ENJOY detailing and doing it properly. I have spent hours on my truck to its virtually swirl and scratch free. Its my hobby and what i enjoy. I think people who trash their truck in the woods are waste but I am not going to tell you how to use your truck. I like to keep mine mint and properly detailed. as you can see Some of the stuff I have in my cabinets

I hear ya! I love washing my truck to the point that the wife and neighbors give me crap about being out there all the time washing it.

Hey is that one of those foam cannon things on the floor? If so what do you think about them? I kind of want to get one really if I am being honest bc they seem like fun!

I love that they go the extra mile and pressure wash the inside, then use the mitt to clean the dash and steering wheel, legit! All that extra moisture inside a hot humid vehicle is supposed to be good for your skin!

the foam gun is on the floor. it just connects to a regular hose. They are ok. it puts some suds on the car to help loosen up dirt and its easy and fast to use. the Foam cannon is in the little tool caddy that connects to a pressure washer. I dont use it alot because i dont fel like dragging out the PW all the time. but its VERY good to use if the car is really dirt to help break up the dirt and wash away after rinse so less chance of scratching once you start washing.

I don't understand why a dealer would be cutting and buffing a brand new vehicle..? It's the cutting that leaves swirls if not done properly.. The most they should be doing is throwing on a coat of wax and buffing it off. The buffer wheel shouldn't leave swirls in the clearcoat?
