Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I'm still wondering why the coupon code doesn't work...

Got to the checkout received discount whole nine yards then noticed the site is not secure? Backed out. Why would your site not be secure for the payment?

Is this still a thing? I checked the web site out and there's only a Wrangler engine kit and a trunk/hatch kit, with no DIY kits. Hoping to get a DIY kit if these are still around

I wonder if my pestering got them to remove the DIY kit? I don't even know if they ship anymore.

As a 10 year IT professional I'm always curious to see what people actually think "secured site" means...

    Please. Regale me.

Put simply "secured site" just means a "trusted source" promised you've actually reached their website. A "trusted source" is a company like "verisign" who is staking their reputation that the domain name (www.tacomaworld.com for instance) is actually the server you've reached.

It's funny when you really understand it. So your browser (let's say Firefox) has agreed with a group of verification companies (Verisign, DigiCert, there's a few) that those companies are "trusted" sources to verify that the domain name matches the actual approved IP address that company has in store. For instance, if www.tacomaworld.com pointed to an IP that wasn't 173.193.31.236 your browser would throw up a warning that it can't verify the site you're going to. It has a "self signed" certificate.

Self signed certificate is basically a server you can't "verify" who it belongs to. The server says "hey, I am who I am, here's my proof" and shows you an ID card it made for itself.

You can still have a fully encrypted connection without a "secured site" message. And actually, to assume "a site is secured, therefore it's secure" is wrong because you're basing Mozilla, Google, IE, Opera, Safari,('s) opinion of WHO can verify a site is actually who it claims to be on your encryption's validity.

tl;dr version: encryption is still present on a link if the URL says HTTPS and you aren't using a stupid-old protocol like SSL. "Secured site" just means big daddy interwebs has promised the site you reached is the site you intended.

Lastly a bit of why this is important: certificate exchange prevents "man-in-the-middle" attacks. Whereby an attacker can place themselves in between you and your intended location. Imagine you're a spy and you agree upon a way of obfuscating a message with your contact. Only to find out your "contact" is a man-in-the-middle and actually a double agent and is now decrypting your messages for the "enemy," and is impersonating you to your actual contact. The above "secured site" message is what tries to inform you this may be happening.
