Hi guys, I just picked up my third tacoma, I have owned an 05 access cab 4cyl a 1994 v6 pickup and now I have a 2001 SR5 4 cyl manual access cab! I'm really excited to get back in a Tacoma. I picked up the truck today in New Hampshire, the frame is decent, some rust spots. I have read a lot about the frame replacement warranty but I really could not get a clear answer. So, I looked up my VIN's Toyota service history, I see that in 2010 my tacoma was brought into a Toyota dealership for "Frame Check" , it seems they sent it home deeming it "okay" I have read somewhere that once they check and okay the frame it extends the warranty and that if I call Toyota corporate I may be able to get a frame replacement. Can anyone fill me in with the cold hard truth? I would LOVE to get a replacement frame somehow and keep this thing going for ever!

Was the truck undercoated by Toyota or was it just inspected?

If it wasn't undercoated then your SOL, your on your own.

If it was undercoated then that will extend your warranty from the in service date of the truck and since yours is a 2001 there is a really good chance that the warranty has now expired. The best thing for you to do is call Toyota HQ with the VIN and see what they say. It may still be covered.

Also if your frame doesn't have any perforation larger than 10mm by the time the warranty ends then your on your own. If you have perforation larger than 10mm and you are still covered under the warranty extension then you should start the frame swapping process with a dealer ASAP.
