3.4 v6 Tacoma

My Tacoma was skipping it was knock sensor bank 1 circuit, I replaced both knock sensors and the wires, installed new spark plugs valve cover gaskets and intake gaskets, now when I crank it up abd drive it down the road the light still stays on, unplugged battery for 10 min and plugged it back up light stayed off for a mile or 2 then came back on. Help..

 

Is the truck running fine when light is off and crappy when light is on??

1st make sure ALL the vacuum hose are on tight and no vacuum leaks, And that you connected them back to the same place.
Did you by chance try cleaning the throttle body ? Or mess with the butterfly.
When I did my knock sensors I cleaned the throttle body, that was a mistake for me, after that
the engine had a high idle 1200 rpms. My throttle body was worn and the carbon buildup
was filling in the worn gap by the butterfly and the housing. Now that I cleaned it I had a larger gap
and a high idle because of that. I had to replace the throttle body and then everything was ok.
Temp guage has to be a wiring issue I would think
Disconnect the battery for a few hours, not minutes

 

Yeah runs fine when light is off but when it's on it starts to skip again. I replaced spark plugs and all the gaskets too

 

Where's the butterfly and send me a pic of your supercharger I might put one on mine

 

Picture of grove on side of throttle body from wear, so it has a high idle and replaced it.
before I cleaned the throttle body the grove was filled in with carbon, after cleaning it it was a problem and it idled at 1500 rpm
So had to replace it

I gotta figure out what's going on tho Should be running good I left the natter cables off all night I'm gonna hook them back up when I get home.

 

Yes it's stil showing same code, but I only unhooked my barter for like 10 min.

 

If it's the same knock code, means you may have a knock, not a bad sensor. Knock could come from lean condition, or bad timing, bad fuel.

 

100 more horses with the 2.1 pulley!!! You will wonder why do did get one along time ago, will be like driving a DIFFERANT truck, but there are some challenges to
get it to run perfect with no pinging depending on the engine

 

If the light goes off, and then comes back on, somethings still funky. Doesn't matter how long the battery is disconnected, it resets the ECU

 

The Check Engine light will reset automatically (even though the fault code is still stored) after resolving certain issues. Disconnecting the battery DOES NOT always clear the codes, however, the scan tool "reset codes" function must be used to do that. The codes are stored in NVRAM (non-volatile ram).

 

Okay I'll see what I can do still gotta figure out my high idle had a cracked vacuum hose from intake to somewhere around ps pump

 

Use carb cleaner spray on the hose connections, if the engine speed increases then that hose is not sealing
