It will take longer than 1 day. It's usually about a week or two to finish a set.

@Roo1041 I have a few questions because I'm in a predicament where I'm in need of some new headlights and your option may be the right fit for me.

My quick sob story: My 2009 Taco still has it's factory headlights and bulbs and all works perfectly and I couldn't ask for anything more, however the damn lenses are fogging over and I'm not going to try to polish it out, I know those gimmicks don't last. So it is visually an eye sore. While I'm not in a real hurry, I am looking to replace these hopefully within the next month. I have money in hand and I thought I could just go buy some aftermarket item and shove it in but it's turning out that all the reviews I read, well those headlights are not work the money and a retrofit using the Bi-xenon Morimoto D2S 3.0 (I heard 4.0 is coming out soon, just not sure how soon) is the way to go.

In your experience which new headlight housings are too flimsy or just a piece of crap that should not be used for a retrofit?
In your experience which new headlight housings are the better quality ones to use in a retrofit?
Do yo have a particular website which shows the different styles of headlight housings you prefer to work on?
Other than the modification of the projector lamps, do you offer any other modifications to the headlamp housing besides painting? I'm just curious.
Lastly, I'd like to retain the chrome look of the reflector but I'm not sure how that would look, so many people are going black. What is your opinion?

    Thanks,
    -Joe

@JoeSchmuck Thank you for contacting me about a set of headlights. I would agree that a retrofit is worth the money if you are in need of replacing your headlights anyway and want to improve the light output. I think I heard/read that the Morimoto D2S 4.0 will be out around September (I'm waiting on them too!).

Obviously OEM headlights are gonna be the best, but often they are hard to find in good shape and usually expensive. I really like working with Eagle Eye headlights. They seal up real nice and have a good light output. I do not have a website that shows the different styles of headlight housings available.

I am not sure what you mean by other modifications to the headlamp. I have done a set with switchback LED strips as "eyebrows"

I like the black out look, but if you have other parts of your truck that are chrome I think it will look good. I'm sure you know this, it seems like you have done a lot of research on this matter, but leaving the reflector bowl chrome will not really improve the amount of light that is output by the projectors. The projectors have their own reflector bowls that the light is reflected off of.

Let's get you a set built!

So I think I need to look around and try to find a headlight assembly that I like first. Are there any brands to stay away from?

Also, yes, I'm aware that the reflector bowl is cosmetic after the conversion.

So here is what I'm looking for right now:
    1) New Headlight Assemblies which could look like a factory option.
    2) Nothing Wild Looking.
    3) My truck does not have DTRL but I do turn on the parking lights when I drive (habit). I would like to have the strip of LEDs in the headlight which run all the way around the frame of the headlight and then flash Amber when the turn signal is on. Or something like that. I don't want a single strip, that doesn't appeal to me.
    4) My truck is dark green and I do have a chrome radiator grill and then there is chrome around. Not sure what black reflectors would look like so I'm going to look on the forums and try to see a similar setup. I'm perfectly fine with chrome everything, only because I don't know any better.

Lastly (for now), who purchases the parts, you or myself or both? I figure we can talk on the phone once I have figured out the parts I want. I want to replace those nasty fogging headlights in the very near future and since I'll keep the truck until it's dead, I might as well invest in some better headlights. The deer are running around a lot here, seeing more of them on the side of the road, both alive and not so alive.

I'm not happy with RockAuto. Got my pair of headlights today and one of the mounts was broken. I went to their site to report it and request another one be shipped but according to the automated system I will be refunded my money for the one headlight AND I need to pay for the return charges. What a bunch of bull! Trying to call them is useless as well, fully automated system and it always punts you back to the website. I will never buy from them again. They have apparently gotten too big to where they are not paying attention to quality control or protecting packages well. This was my second order with them and both have had returns. Yup, not pleased at all. But I do have my Morimoto Mini D2S kit ready to move forward once I get a second headlight. I could probably repair it, I have the know how and then I could just be done with the issue but there is a plastic brace missing. I could reinforce it with some rigid plastic. Time to think about this.

If you have a tape measure you should be able to estimate it pretty well. I think the tricky part will be how you plan to mount it. I'm thinking you may mount it to the reflector section attached to the lens housing using thin wire and just measure the dimensions, use the shortest dimensions for the diameter, or something like that.
