My new to me 04 did not come with key fobs to lock/unlock the doors. Not a big deal but a bit of a pain. Can I simply call the Toyota dealership and get these for my truck? Or do I need a physical fob and they "code" it to the VIN?

I had a '10 Mercedes that was missing a second key and that was a red tape dealership nightmare along with an eye watering invoice.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hey DustStorm,

I posted the fob question over on a sales thread for a Fob and rec'd this kind response from Frankie. Hope this helps.

Check to confirm your vehicle has the dealer or port installed keyless / security option installed as not all 01-04's had them installed. A couple giveaways are a "VIP" sticker on the lower right hand corner (when looking at the window from the outside) of the driver, passenger, or both window(s). Also check to see if you have the ECU. That unit is in one of two locations: under the driver's seat or behind the driver's side kick panel (the latter is more common). The other check is to see if you have a . Some units might not have this sensor, but it's not the definitive indicator (the presence of the ECU is).

I believe (but don't quote me on this) that the 04's have the RS3200 installed rather than the RS3000. Your remote has FCC ID BAB237131-056 and Toyota Part # 08191-00922. Should run you anywhere between $75 - $150, depending on the stealership though I ordered a spare from
[IMG]this ebay seller with no problem. Lastly, here are the instructions on self-programming it.
