The road up to laurel lakes is nice. There are a half dozen or so natural (replete with hippies on weekends) hot tubs off of the whitmore tubs road. There are great driving roads by bald mountain but it was on fire for the past two weeks so probably avoid that area. The road to inyo craters is nice. You can drive fireroad from mammoth to june lake. Pretty much anywhere with dirt will be fun but there are no challenging trails in the area that I have found. Further south out of bishop, there is silver and wyman canyons. Lots of beautiful areas to drive in the white mountains. Drive to Bodie ghost town, pack a lunch and a cooler, then head out to the sister town of Aurora. If you want to go further afield, head north to bridgeport then take the 182 to NV and find the ghost town of belfort. That's probably going to be the most challenging spot I can think of.
