I've been in contact with ScanGauge working on a good deal for their ScanGauge II for us. They're will to work with me, and we're currently hammering out the details.

*****Details are in, and this Group Buy is now open until 8/31. I was able to get us a $30 discount, and free shipping to the lower 48.***** This is a code based GB, and you need to PM me for the code.

There is new code available to show you the transmission temperature as well, and I've provide a link for those codes.
X-Gauge codes can be found here for the transmission.

    Not enough...
I've had one for 2 years now. Honestly, wouldn't buy one again. For the dudes who tow it may be useful, other than that, it's rather pointless. No way to extract data, no history beyond the last fill up, if you fill up when your tank is not empty, you have to re-calibrate it again.... which takes a full tank of gas and to upgrade software you have to mail it in. And no, it does not help you improve your gas milage, unless you are willing to drive without ever pressing accelerator pedal.

I didn't purchase the ultragauge due to no trans temp for the 1st gen. I do keep reading the thread though. which one did you buy? thinking of selling it? noticed in the thread you couldn't get it to read on your third gen.

Guessing the Scangauge doesnt do trans temp for a 1st gen either?

It does. You just need to find the codes, and enter them in.

It's better to have it when your truck throws any CEL codes.

If that's a guarantee I would be in for one. I was hoping the Ultragauge had a temp gauge but it didn't.

I know there are a lot of 3rd Gen 4runner people using them for this purpose. These are the codes that work for us. I also found a thread from the 1st Gen Tacoma section that had the same codes. You might want to do some more research, but I think you're OK.

while reading the ultragauge thread I did read that customer service was a bit crappy. thought about getting the blue but I didn't want to have to pull out my phone every time I wanted to see something. shouldn't be hard for you to sell it

Good luck with the group buy. I bought mine used off of another member. Pretty happy with the product over all. I mostly use it to view mpg and to check and clear engine codes. I have a manual so I can't see the trans temp.

Because I had Jerry Rigged it below my stereo, the cord was pretty bent and it eventually short circuited. Called Linear-Logic and they sent a whole new unit and cord. Awesome customer service.

Would definitely recommend to first gens since there are virtually no stock gauges for anything. Not sure about second gens.

I have an OBDII reader as well so it wouldn't get used for that. Want it just for seeing the health of the motor/tranny

ok so I have my answer if there is a temp gauge for the first gen.

    Per Linear Logic

"Unfortunately, we do not have transmission temperature available for your vehicle. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Has to be programmed in on your own. Like I said earlier there is a code you have the enter to access the temp. 3rd Gen 4runner's and 1st Gen Tacoma's use the same code, and that code is not published on ScanGauge's site. You can Google it to find that code, and many other codes.

back to researching then. i would have thought that the company selling these things would know if there was a code to input to see the trans temp.

The code is already posted that you'll need. All you need to do is Google "1st Gen Tacoma Scangauge transmission temperature" and you'll get a lot of results. You can also use "3rd Gen 4runner Scangauge transmission temperature" and get the same codes.

Is this for $30 less of the Amazon price or the manufacturer website price? Amazon is already $33 off and cheaper than the manufacturer price would be subtracting $30.
