pressure depends on the size of the tire AND weight on the wheel.

smaller the tire, more pressure required. I'm running 700x32's on the street, those are happy with about 80 PSI with my 220 lbs. if you're running 700x19s, then you'd better be somewhere over 100 PSI. big fat mountain bike tires, 50 PSI road, 35 in the dirt.

note this table is weight PER WHEEL. so take your weight, add your bikes weight, and then figure whether your riding position puts you at 60-40% or 50-50% or what, and split your weight proportionally. I usually figure 60-40. so I'm 225 lbs with ym riding gear on, my bike is 30 lbs with tail pack, water bottle etc, so tahts about 250 lbs, 60% of that is about 150 lbs on the rear wheel, and 100 lbs on the front. so this says I should run 90PSI rear and 60 PSI front on my 32mm Hyper Randonneur tires...

when you buy bike tires, look for tires with high thread count, threads per inch(TPI). those Vittoria Randoneur Hyper (I think they are called Voyager Hyper now) are like 120 TPI or something, makes them ride really sweet. most cheap tires are like 30 tpi.

I recently put a pair of Clement X'plor USH 35mm on my CX bike. I like them a lot. They do good for a mixed use tire.

How do you like your Spec Crux? I have a 2014 Crux Elite. Absolutely love it for riding gravel. It's set-up with Stan's Iron Cross wheels and Clement X'plor MSO 36mm tubeless tires.

Also in my stable I have a Niner MCR (rigid 29er) and Giant Anthem (full squish 29er), a Trek 1.5 road bike and a Motobecane Boris fat bike.

Nice stable you have there Sir!
I like the crux but...I just got a Lynskey Cooper CX that was just too nice to pass up. Decked out with so much awesomeness! Chris King HS and BB. Sram Force 22 groupset, Stans Alpha 400 set up tubless and best of all, hand made titanium bike made in Tennessee! I'll post a pic soon.

110 psi in the 700x25s on the road bike, 80 psi (for pavement) in the 700x37s on the gravel bike. I am 200lbs.

per that table I posted above, you could run about 50psi on those fatties and be fine.

One of the 3 bikes in my stable is a cheap Schwinn Tourist hybrid. It's the workhorse of the group, however, so I still depend a lot on it. I thought I'd get rid of it soon as I purchased a second bike, the 2015 Specialized Diverge, but I just couldn't bring myself to part with it. My third bike is my commuter bike, a 2015 IZip E3 Path+, decked out with rack, fenders, and its electric motor. That thing can scoot! Some folks may think it's cheating to ride an electric bike, but I wouldn't want to bike commute any other way. I do keep it on the lowest pedal assist level, though, that way I get a decent workout going to, and returning from, work.

Here's the Schwinn, geared up for its weekend duty of running errands:

Depends on the overall terrain I'm going to be riding. If paved or hardpack, 80. If sandy, loamy, muddy or loose gravel then 50-60. Just like a lot of other stuff, one thing isn't right for all things. Chart is a reference point to start from but not the end all for every person in every situation.

So its been a while since I have been on. Working up here in NJ. I have been commuting to work via a rail trail which has been great. Getting a little tougher to do seeing that we are on 12 hr shifts or six strait days though. I'm enjoying the titanium Linskey Cooper CX I purchased about a month ago. Shipped it up here using bike flights and it made it without a scratch.

I would like to upgrade my mountain bike in the next couple years. Trying to find the right fs for what I ride. I like the Kona Process 153 a lot so far.
