Well since my SR5 got hit by drunk driver parked in the street Thursday morning, I've been driving a Jeep Patriot. No news on total damage yet, but his insurance said they will cover all cost. Body shop has already told me I'll need a new frame, gas tank, leaf springs rear bumper, not counting the whole drivers side that he went down from back to front. Maybe I'll get a 2017. Gee what model, color do I get.

Maybe you can get enough extra from a settlement to pour some concrete for an extra driveway in your yard. Driving a Jeep Patriot should qualify you for a pain and suffering settlement.

Well that night I got lazy and didn't put it in the driveway. Any vehicle I get will never be parked on the street again. I'm in a subdivision with very little traffic, but it just takes that one car coming down the road. I'm not a fan of the rental jeep either. I like your thinking on the pain and suffering.

Hey man, you ever get an answer about this? I'm curious as well.. Right now I just put my dirt bike as far left as possible, ratchet strap both front handle bars to the front left and right tie downs of the truck, and then 550 cord the left foot peg to the bed railing's little black thing that slides up and down the bed...

I want a chock to just put my wheel in and tie it up that way and just stabilize the front left and right..

    What do you do?

North Carolina has personal property tax also, my '16 runs about $360 a year. DMV requires tax to be paid before you can renew your plates.

When I moved from Chesapeake VA to Asheboro NC back in the mid 90's my new 1995 F150 total taxes were $119 including the fire and school tax in Asheboro. They picked up trash twice a week. You raked leaves to the curb and a city vacuum truck picked them up. A year later I came back to Chesapeake and my tax due on the then 1 year old truck was $130 for 3 months. We are just hosed in my city. I should feel blessed only paying $750 for my 2016 because Chesapeake picks up my trash once a week. Tax dollars at work. My house taxes are $2500 a year. Maybe I should claim the Taco as a residence. That would reduce my Taco tax to $270. I do live in my truck especially on the weekends. We have tolls on local tunnels but that is not included in the car tax.

Well I like all colors except white and infortunatly Inferno. This last one was black, but leaning towards Barcelona, Blue Pearl or Magnetic Gray. However I do need to wait and make sure it's totaled before getting excited and picking a color.

Unfortunately Toyota has expertise in frame replacement. If it was hit in the front you would have a better chance of being totaled. Hope it is for your sake. Now the carfax is screwed and may be tough selling it. You might have better luck trading it. I would just worry about odd rear tire tracking and wear., etc. Stuff that will not show up early enough to be covered again. Some dealer body shops do have lifetime warranty repairs. My son had a car that destroyed the inside 1/2 of a rear tire, a brand new rear tire, in roughly 3 months. It had been hit and the rear camber was adjusted as far as possible. I do wish you the best of luck.

I didn't take it to a dealer, went to a friend of mines body shop. He is/was in the top of the nation in body repair. If it's not totaled I will be trading it in and asking the dealer for both prices before and after wreck quote. I will then tell the insurance company I want the difference or face possible small claims court for the difference. I feel they need to put me back where I was before the accident without spending any of my money. It will be easier if totalled. Since their insurred was charged with Driving while intoxicated over .15 BAC they have told me all cost will be paid. Won't know till Monday the cost of repair and then turn it over to the insurance for a them to decide if they will fix or total it.
Until then I'm stuck with the Jeep Patriot
