Rear axle options

Hi guys i am currently in the market for a new tacoma. i have recently found a 2013 tacoma at a dealer near me however it is a CJD dealer so they cant certify the truck. With a Toyota lot just down the street, they have no customers interested in it due to better warranty and the like at the toyota dealer. this has dropped the price of the truck considerably. my only issue is it is an SR5 and not TRD. so my question is. Are there readily available LSD rear ends i could buy and put in this truck? the truck is a '13 with 31k for $28K, plus being an employee of this dealer chain, i get better financing and deals. Thank you for any input.

That truck already has a LSD rearend in it, and I agree that the price is a little high. 14'-15's go for 28k with less milage. As far as warranty goes, you will either be buying v an extended warranty or getting none. Bumper to bumper is 36k and power train is 50k.

 

Are you talking about the auto lsd? That's not a real lsd

 

I bought my 15' SR5 last year for 27k.

Because that still feels pretty high. But you don't tell us where you are, and markets do vary.

I'd say keep shopping. No deal to be had here.

 

Yes those axles are out there, and ECGS will install a real locker. That price seems high, but markets vary?

ETA, or perhaps my truck is worth more than I think.

Very true. The Sport has the 8.4 gears

 

Every model other than the OR has the "8.4"

 

Save money and retrofit with an aftermarket rear locker.
