After a 30 minute drive, the key is very hot when removed from the ignition. Has anyone noticed this? I dont think it is much of an issue, just finding it strange?o_O

Doesn't sound right, mine's never hot and hasn't been in any of the cars I've had...

I just read there is a chip in the key. Is it possible that is my issue. This is so odd. Happened again today.

The chip is just an RFID chip like in a credit card. It has no power going to it.

Possible bad connection in the ignition switch. if it is still under warranty have the dealer check it out.

When you say hot, is it just warm to the touch or does it end up burning u if you touch it for a while.

It might be a whole lot of nothing. I mean, it's just a key after all....

In my gmc yukon i onve had a similar issue.
It has this little rubber hatch right below that i took off cause it protruded out and kept getting caught and falling. Well 1 time i was in a rush and one of my other keys flew up in that hole and made contact and arkd and shocked me and left me with a blister
