Hey guys! First post on here. I recently inherited a '98 Tacoma Prerunner Xtracab, and I'm currently upgrading everything.

So far, I replaced the stock stereo and added a backup camera. I was starting to replace the speakers when I realized the rear OEM speaker bracket holes did not fit my aftermarket speakers (Rockford Fosgate P16 Punch 6-Inch). I can screw into two holes, but not all four. I used a metra mounting bracket for the front speakers, but there doesn't appear to be a bracket for the rear speakers.

Would I have to MacGyver some custom bracket up, is there some rear bracket I've never heard of, or would two attachment points be sufficient?

    Thanks for the help!

    ...we'll get there.
Can't tell you whether there's an aftermarket bracket, but i would use more than 2 attachment points. with only two your speaker is much less likely to seat nicely and firmly, and your audio quality will suffer. you're trying to stop the speaker from shaking itself, and you want it to shake the air instead. 2 points leaves lots of wiggle room, literally.

Last time I looked I couldn't find an adapter bracket so you'll probably have to make your own.

Same problem with speakers i used. They were close enough that i added washers to help hold them in.

I'm glad I have a DC. Bought speakers over the weekend & a stereo and it all went in flawlessly. 6x9's front & back. Not looking for the bass. That's plenty for me!

Fox 2.0 Coilovers in the front and Fox 2.0’s in the rear, Total Chaos UCA’s, Al-lpro expo leafs, K&N cold air intake, TRD headers,Magnaflow catback exhaust,URD short throw shifter, switched out my 60/40 bench seat for some Tacoma Limited seats, Replaced the vinyl shift boot for a leather one, completely soundproofed the cab w/ Frost King. Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
I bought the 5"x7" aftermarket and it bolted right up. I'd like to replace them with 6"x9"s (Focals) but I'm focused on my exhaust from headers back right now....I already spent $1000 on my sound system, it's going to have to wait till my truck is completely done

After staring at the rear speaker mount for 10 minutes I just said screw it (literally) and drilled directly into the inner plastic molding that held the original speaker. It fits perfectly.
