ok. i have a question. i put new tires on my truck a few months ago and it was super quiet. no road noise. now i notice a roaring/humming noise. (from the front i think, not sure) but everything on the front felt tight. does it in neutral coasting but seems to start around 20 mph & up. i dont think its road noise. does this sound like a bearing failing? im out of ideas.

Can you provide us with some basic info about your truck? Year, mileage, engine and tranny, what maintenance and repairs have been done, etc.

4 cylinder 5 speed. just rolled to 200,000 miles. everything is stock exept the 265/75/16 tires. Oh and I couldn't hear anything by spinning the front wheels by hand.

    4 wheel drive truck?
Does the noise go a way when its in 4 wheel drive? Could be a bad differential bearing in the front.

Have you checked for play in the wheel bearings?

yes 4 wheel drive. but as i said it only does it at faster speeds and i checked for play by jacking it up and moving both wheels. both sides were tight. no play. its like 25 to 30 mph and up the noise is there. oh and i checked the rear also. theyre tight. no noise when jacked up. on the front theres no noise when spinning them by hand.

You won't hear or feel a bad wheel bearings by rotating the tire in the air. Leave truck on the ground. Grab tire at 12 o'clock. Push and pull into the vehicle and then away from the vehicle. You'll have to do it with some oomph behind it. You'll feel the play that way. It should be tight. You can check the fronts and rears this way. Or jack up each one and grab at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock with each hand and push in with one hand and pull with the opposite. Some like to check that way. I find it easier to feel with the weight of the vehicle on the tire.

Just based blindly on how you describe it in your first post on this thread, it sounds like a wheel bearing humming(failing).
