Had a busy day installing it, so i didn't get install pics. It's pretty easy with the info i found on this site. Crutchfield said this radio wouldn't fit because of the slide down face but it fits perfectly. The face slides OUT rather than down, so no clearance issues at all. I used prime and got everything quick and cheap.

    what i got:
    Pioneer AVH-X 5800
    https://www.amazon.com/PIONEER-AVH-...=UTF8&qid=1471919824&sr=8-1&keywords=avhx5800

Metra dash kit - black / wiring harness
    https://www.amazon.com/Toyota-Tacom...1919895&sr=8-2&keywords=tacoma+dash+kit+black

    E-brake bypass thingy
    https://www.amazon.com/MicroBypass-...g_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=DX721MX4WZ2MK3325A9E

Soldered everything together relatively quickly, and used shrink wrap because that shit looks tight.

This unit is miles ahead of the miserable stock head unit. really brought the speakers to life (side note, next mod; speakers). I also got the colors to match the stock orange very closely. bonus points for looking 'nice, not rice'

The metra kit is good. However, i wish the head unit supports were metal instead of plastic. the hazard button also gets stuck on occasion. I really like the finish on the metra kit.

The e-brake bypass thingy was stupid simple to install and it works. i never have to look at it again. it's just back there and it works. 5 stars.

overall - kick ass head unit, decent dash kit.

    Action shots -

Streaming spotify via bluetooth from my phone (the biggest reason i got the unit)

    Seriously though. Plenty of clearance.

Style points. Screen illuminates ejected cd. very classy.

Movie playing while in D with no e-brake (stopped in the driveway of course. cell phones and driving don't mix.)

Final thoughts. If you're thinking about it, get it. It's good.

    bonus: Ash Tax.

That is very clean looking. I may go with the Scoshe dash kit instead of the metra. I do like the pioneer.

i've heard good about the scosche kit. I feel like the metra is great for @around $25. but yes, the pioneer is turning out to be a great stereo.

Nice job! I installed mine last month. I opted to include the siriusxm tuner. Love the Pandora integration. Great head unit.

after using mine almost daily for 4 months, i have grown to really enjoy the stereo. i mostly use a usb with most of my music on it and searching through folders is painfully slow. i usually use the skip folder button if i don't want to listen to an album. spotify is a n ice addition but i get some hiccups at times. and if i have my phone in my left pants pocket the streaming is spotty and cuts out. i mainly keep my phone in the nook behind the steering wheel and it does fine. i have had issues of spotify not streaming through and the music playing through my phone speakers with the head unit acting as an overpriced remote. the hd rasio is amazing but all of my local stations are boring. overall, good headunit.

i was orignially going to spray plsti dip on the other parts but when i got it in i didn't really mind the silver bits. i don't know about subs and amps but it was a pretty easy install. i soldered all the wires together and everything fit just fine. the biggest pitfalls are the software really. all the hardware/wiring was a breeze. the appradio function is a joke imo. i wish it would just mirror my phone and let me have a maps display and play spotify at the same time. other than that you'll have fun playing with the different settings the head unit has to offer.

Mine sounds pretty good. But I feel I'm not using the full potential of the unit.
