This is true. Didn't think about that. But I still will probably not run my spare

I didn't rotate my spare in and this just recently happened. Worked out very well for me.

IF you do not rotate in the spare just make sure the new tire is on the rear not on the front otherwise you will have a huge pulling problem. Your 4x4 system will tolerate some difference in diameter. Now if your running 4 are almost bald and your spare is new, that could be a problem.

Agreed, my thought after this experience is I'm going to do it the same way. Every time I ruin a tire I'll get all 4 new for close that price. Regarding the running 4 tires that are almost bald well,,if that's the case said person needs to get off Tacomaworld and go to work. Curious what difference in tread depth in would take to to something bad to the diff.

This is what happens to an ARB spider gear washers when you run a dinky spare with an oversized tire though.

Burned um right up. New they are all to be .030" . That was not a cheap or fast problem to resolve.

Anyone with 255/80/17 on 5100s with 885 on stock sport wheels have any rubbing issues with the Control arm? I notice my tire is less than a finger width from the control arm and i have rubbing issues on sharp turns. I am thinking that I will not be able to get the camber corrected because of how close it is. I am not a mechanic by no means but i am just assuming. Should I just get some spacers and then get it all re-aligned by a reliable shop?

Well that's too bad. Yeah vinyl decals that large are hard to apply. We almost messed up mine the first time too. Glad to hear you are not totally defeated and will order another one soon. I should have Jeff include one of my decals in your order for your truck. It's my signature piece. ;)

America's Tire just quoted me about $1,250 for 5 new ST MAXX in 235/85/16, I believe this includes the road hazard certificates and a valve stem "rebuild". Sound about right to you guys?
