Looks like I'm going to be on a pavement pounding trip down I-5 to a wedding in California. I've been up and down I-5 more times than I can count, but this will be the first time with a toddler. I've done it once when she was an infant but that was a whole different ballgame. I'm trying to plan out stops every couple of hours and Medford looks to be one of the towns that is conveniently located. Any good parks/playgrounds around town? Any areas of town to avoid? It'll probably be mid-day when we're stopping in and we'll likely be burned out on children's museums at that point.

I heard Hawthorne park was redone recently to include a water park (like sprinkler things and sprayers, not like rides). There's also Bear Creek park which had these little wood castle playground things. I did hear these spots may have turned into shady homeless/tweaker spots, but I've heard they were cleaning stuff up too.

Ashland has a pretty nice park too, Lithia Park. You can feed ducks and there's a playground as well. Here you will most likely deal with the patchouli oil types.

And a little further off the I5, but not too far will yield several parks by the river. Not many playgrounds though, but nice place for a samich, cool water, and sun, like in grants pass. Both Ashland and Grants Pass are about 30 South/North of Medford respectively.

Wildlife Safari where u can drive through with your vehicle and see animals. If I remember right it's about 10 mins west off I-5 past Roseburg. Your kid will most likely enjoy it. Here's the website http://www.wildlifesafari.net

Thanks for the pointers. I think we might be stopping for a bit in Grants Pass but not positive.

But we're trying to get out of the car and we all saw how that worked out when that Chinese lady got out to stretch her legs in the tiger pen :p I'd seen signs for that place passing through but I didn't realize that they had camping. Definitely have to add that to our list of places to stop.
