I have never used the ect. Is it much different. Does it affect gas mileage. I had tranny issues from January 2nd until the update 3 weeks ago. Because of issues I never played with ect. I just wanted my tranny to work normally. Now it does. I will have to try it. But I do like my current mpg. After roughly 40 in town miles this tank is showing 19.5 but is acually 20 because of 3.3% larger circumference tires and no speedometer calibration (265/70/17 vs 265/65/17 = 19.5 x 1.033 = 20.14 mpg)..

Got my TSB done today. Huge difference. Dealer was hesitant at first, surprising because the service guy I talked to at the desk was a Tacomaworld member... Luckily his buddy was pretty good and backed up my story saying he's had to do a few of these this month.

Bring a copy of the TSB with you, they like to play dumb, and was told I MAY have to PAY for it!?!?!?

Otherwise, they got me in and took care of the howling TSB too (gave them a copy of that too).

Not a flair..I get a shudder when it shifts to 4th gear and when it shifts to 5th gear. Feels worse with the AC on. Don't feel it with the ECT engaged.

It's like the feeling when you shift a manual way too early and get that bogged down feel.

I started a new thread about the issue but don't think anyone has chimed in yet.

Has your dealerships been putting the decal under the hood per the TSB? Mine was performed but not the decal/sticker.

TSB plus CAI minus air dam . Since filling up I drove 8 miles on the interstate and 80 miles at 25-35-40 mph city streets with hit or miss traffic lights every mile. The pictured mpg is actually 21.2 mpg. Not calibrated for 1" larger diameter tires. I am very happy. All my F150 V8's got 13.5 mpg on same routes. Now have good shifting transmission with a little pep. TSB hurt mpg. 20160809_175112[1].jpg 20160814_185823[1].jpg 20160814_185759[1].jpg CAI helps mpg.20160823_160417[1].jpg

I have the 2016 Tacoma 3.5L long bed off road edition, automatic with the tow package. I just got back from a 1,900 mile road trip. The issues I have experienced while driving have been transmission sticking in 4th gear for more than half the trip causing me to burn through almost a full tank of fuel within the first 200 miles of the trip. Engine revving up to 5,000 plus rpm's during hill climbing at 70 mph. The radio turning off and resetting about 10 times. On the way back, truck ran fine for about 2 to 3 hours then back to sticking to 4th gear 3,000 rpms all the way home on flat road. It shifts but stick to very high RPM's. Could this be low fluid, bad transmission flash or CAM sensor sending faulty signal. What say you? Truck is going to dealer Friday. I did not experience any problems in town for about 8,000 miles until I took this trip. Location Washington/ Oregon/ Idaho/ Montanan many hills on the trip.

Drop it at dealer overnight. Let them bring temp up in the morning to check atf. Then have TSB performed. Then test drive before you sign off the ticket. That is where I would start.

Thank you. This is the first new car I have ever purchased. The more advise the better.

My mpg is better or the same as before the TSB. 24.5 mpg on the last full tank which was my best ever I believe even though not the most favorable conditions and with the AC on for about 1/3 of the ~450 mile tank. If people see worse mpg immediately after the TSB it is because the throttle is more responsive after the Auto Intelligence is reset (same as the battery disconnect) and people aren't reducing their throttle inputs to compensate and then the transmission will return to behaving as it did before the TSB with the exception of the 3 items addressed in the TSB. I suspect that most people will see improved real world highway mpg since the CC behaves better and keeps the truck in a taller gear longer and does not hang in 4th after cresting hills. My highway mpg is certainly better.

I didn't get the sticker and they didn't note it on my service report because they couldn't replicate the issues. Service guy said they did the flash but Toyota doesn't like them flashing without cause. I believe they did it because for one I didn't mention the TSB when I brought it in and two it feels different.

Biggest thing is if you have an automatic is to get them to actually check the transmission oil level...that's a pain in the ass

I went in for my 5k service today. Ironically met a highschool budy of mine who is now the service advisor! Anyways I told him about the TSB and he said they would do that and offered to check the tranny fluid due to the known issue. Fast forward later tonight, picked up the truck and the tech kindly informed me that the "tsb may help it, may not. The gear shifting is a characteristic of the truck." I laughed and noticed my buddy rolling his eyes.

He asked me to let him know how things went post tsb and stated they also found my fluod half a quart low. Truck feels different since although haven't been able to thoroughly test the gear shifting. Being positive due to all the awesome feedback I've read.

Has anyone used the plugs from lowes for the lower control arms? I put them in before the tsb and they fit perfectly. Wondering what they are doing for the tsb, is it a better fix?

They're cheap little plastic plugs. If they weren't free, I'd be going to Lowe's myself...
