how far north? tons of places. if you want to dry camp, mendocino national forest, north of 'mendocino pass', up around the north fork of the middle fork of the eel river...

Van Damme State Park is gorgeous on the Mendocino coast.

Numerous state parks around Sonoma County. Sugarloaf Ridge State Park near Santa Rosa is pretty cool.

Ton of fire bans in this area, chances of open flames (campfires) being allowed are minimal.

true that. gas/propane/butane stoves only, off the ground, would be highly advisable ANYwhere in the west this time of year, especially this year. don't park a hot vehicle over dry grass either, or the exhaust pipes and catalytic converter can start a fire.

hmm, my Mendocino Nat'l Forest area is more like 4+ hours drive from SF. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/37....0479516,15025m/am=t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e0

ah well. I've not been in that neck of the woods in 30 years but we used to go up that way camping several times a year, usually int he spring when all the creeks were running. ideally we'd find our way down to the Eel and camp within 1/4 mile, but I bet you can't do that anymore.

Definitely came out to the truck once and some lady wanted my insurance because she opened her car door hard enough to leave a round dent on the edge right in to my sliders. Yeah, not happening, lady.

She opened her car door into your parked vehicle and wanted your insurance. They let these people vote.... Just watched a video of random people selected to present there knowledge of guns. 90% of them knew almost nothing and most of those wanted people not to have guns. Scary that people vote about things they know nothing about.

Yes. I walked out with groceries and she was like "So this happened, I'm gonna need your insurance information" I started smiling and minor laughing and put my groceries away and she got serious and said she was going to call the police and I just said "So it's my fault that you slammed your door in to my vehicle and damaged your vehicle" and she said "if you hadn't had those tubes on the truck it wouldn't have damaged my car" to which I replied "yeah, your door would have put a giant dent in my door, You're not getting my insurance lady" and I got in the truck and drove off and I saw her taking a photo of my license plate....never heard a thing about it. I'm sure insurance/police just laughed at her.

Maybe with your new sliders. With the old ones, you would both have dents ;)

Some people just refuse to admit they did anything wrong. Just remember, it's always your fault.

The other day I was trying to make a right turn, on green, crosswalk was red. I'm making my turn and then these two guys jump out into the intersection and I hear the two guys yell at me "this is a crosswalk you know". I rolled down the window and said "you know that's a red light right?". I wanted to get out the damn car.

That being said, I think the whole "right of way" thing is either very broken or people are dumb and selfish.
