Hey guys, I am putting in a 3in lift into my 2002 tacoma. What I am wondering is if I go with the light racing control arms, are they at least stronger than stock uca. I know they are better than stock as far as realigning everything, but are they strong. Meaning can I take the truck offroad without having to worry about then? I currently have a 1in lift and the stock uca di just fine. Everyone tells me I need to get some TC control arms but I really can't afford the 200 more, but I also don't want something I can't take off road. Thanks for the help!

I guess that depends on your definition of "offroading" is. Your stock UCAs will be fine unless you want to really beat on it, you'll only suffer on caster numbers which is fine just maybe a little squirrelly. The light racings are stronger than stock but won't be as strong as a uniball type UCA.

Stock uca with a tight ball joint can handle quite a bit. Alot of times people bend the mounts before the uca.

I have 4" of lift and my next mod is uca's ... I've heard a lot of yeahs and nahs about LR uca's ... I've decided to go with jba uca's, I've heard and seen the adjustments for alignments are incredible! ... If ball joints fail you go to your local auto parts store and pick up a new one, rather than dealing with uniball ... Plus from what I hear jba has no known issues, and amazing customer service (that in its self is a selling feature for me!)!!

not an option for 1st gens.

lr has updated the design in the past year for durability reasons.

I stand corrected... Email jba and see if he'd make those for y'all ... I thought he did already, but I'd deffinitely go ball joint over uniball!
