I have the same issue on my '12. Anytime I go on a road that isn't perfectly smooth I get that rattling noise. Offroad is even crazier. In my truck you can actually see the whole seat shake. I took it to Toyota and they checked it out and drove another on the lot and said it did it too. The said it was "normal." Well, it's not normal. It's poor quality. Not what I expect and certainly not the kind of answer I'd like to hear, especially from Toyota. I've been a life long Toyota fan but some of their quality has gone down. Still love 'em though.
I have yet to check it out further. I'll have to have someone else drive while I investigate it from the back seat. I'm guessing the driver side does it as well but since someone is in it we won't know.

I have 2015 DCLB and have a really annoying noise that is always there when driving. My gf has to put the window down to drown our the noise. As far as the source, this noise is possibly coming from the seals between the door and the body. It seems like there is something loose. But I cannot find where. Im wondering if this is something covered under the 30 k warranty?

The noise I hear from that area sounds like 2 plastic pieces rubbing together

I tried that :( I latched the seatbelt on the passengerside and no luck, even after securing the clip that goes over the bottom of the seatbelt where it attaches to the door, same random rattle when going over cold patch road repairs. Today, I took it in for the 5k checkup and tire rotation. Of course no resolve for the buzzing steering wheel etc, they did check the fluid levels and of course everything is fine. I'm glad I added 1.5 qts of trans fluid back at the 200 mile mark hence the correct trans level. They did hear the door rattle, and of course they don't have the clips for the door card in stock so they have to order them. They did tell me they were going to contact the area rep and inquire about the engine vibrations and trans shifting weird at times the R to D excessive lag (which of course they couldnt duplicate) once I find out what actually is loose in the door I will advise so others can hopefully get things fixed in a timely manner.

Currently working on getting Toyota HQ to fix this in my '15 DCSB. The service manager at the dealership I go to said that he has seen it on every single taco on the lot that is not a '16. Apparently it is the actual seat frame on the passenger seat, and that it differs from the driver seat frame. Mine has been getting progressively worse. We'll see what happens. If they won't fix it for me, I'm going to rip apart the seat myself and figure it out.

I had my truck in the dealership for the rattle and luckily they heard it so it took forever to get the door clips and they supposedly fixed it. UNTIL I drive away and hit the same patch of road and the rattling came back. So I'm like its not the door it has to be the passenger side. So I slid it back and forth a bit and made sure I could hear it click as if it is seated. I go back into the dealer in December for my 10k checkup and I will bring it to their attention then. Meantime if someone finds whats going on please let me know, and if I have to remove the seat I will.

To just eliminate this possible cause of the rattle ... fasten the passenger side seat belt and then see if rattle goes away. Mine was making a rattling sound in passenger area and driving me nuts till i figured out it was the passenger seatbelt buckle hitting the strike pad on the side door post next to seat

It was the buckle, after it slid down the seatbelt strap it would rattle against the plastic trim. I pushed the buckle all the way up to the top on top of the seat.

Ive fastened the seatbelt and nothing changed. I somewhat jiggled the safety belt and it appears that something is loose inside of the door card. I have a 3 door. I'm not taking it back to the dealer, I was wiping down the passengerside door card and the trim piece that goes on top of the card that gives you access to the side mirror popped right off. I looked and for some reason the dealership forgot to put 2 of the white plastic clips in the door frame that holds the trim piece on. WTH?? I stopped at the dealer today and asked for 2 of the clips and I will put them in. Does anyone know how to remove the 3rd door door card, and if so whats the probability of breaking clips?
