you are missing the point entirely. I'm not worried about the cap, it's getting replaced tomorrow. My first call was the service department, FYI. I'm questioning if I should be concerned about long term issues. Seems a legit concern to me. I'm not bagging on the third gen, I'm not a frequent flier complainer. In fact I've not had one other issue with my truck to date and I love it.

Do you have oil sprayed on the underneath of your hood?
Good luck getting the dealer to admit it was your fault. I don't think the truck left the factory without the oil cap. I would change the oil regardless of the dealership will do it under warranty or not.
Maybe get the dealer to give you one of those overpriced TRD Oil filter caps.

I am a dealer service manager and got an email this morning regarding a, so far, unknown number of Tacoma's that were delivered without oil caps.

There is no formal bulletin out about this issue YET, but if you call your dealer and reference TMC Document ID: 5318008 they will be able to help you and Toyota will replace the cap free of charge.

    Hope this helps.

You did good to try to get the message out. The haters in the 3rd Gen thread are ridiculous. I tried to warn you. You really should have never returned to this particular thread like I advised. And just went to the dealership for the oil change and new cap. The people in the 3rd Gen forum are terrible people. Very few of them will actually try to help you.

Holy hell, Cut the guy a break. You could have just said that the post wasn't intended for him in an appropriate manner.

If you don't like the topic, just move on. Nuff said.
