Haha no but I was just saying this trip isn't going to be as expensive as everyone has been saying. I took my last truck a 2500 dodge cummins hauling a 3500lbs slide in camper to Big Bend in the spring and did the entire trip including a $300 steak dinner for under $1000.

Dammit I forgot the beer bill!

But really when you spend as much time road tripping as I have you figure out how to get from point A to B for pretty cheap.

Yup!!! I'm figuring at least $250 in booze $300 in food and $600 in fuel and I'm ready to roll. Tires will be fine I'll be carrying 10 extra gallons of fuel and 5 gallons of water at all times

Most likely thing to break out there is a CV joint and a u joint. Maybe a tie rod end of sway bar link but I will be putting in quick disconnect sway bar links any way before I get out on my next trip

In reality I'm thinking $1200 for the whole trip for everything.

The link that connects the sway bar to your spindle. Basically what makes your truck not drive like a Cadillac around corners and prevents body roll. When you disconnect your sway bar link you gain travel. Now you can in theory destroy your CV axle. But all Long Travel kits delete the sway bar

There are more people who grenade e-locker rear 3rds than bust CVs out at moab. Wheel smart and don't hammer down with your wheels turned to lock and you don't need to worry about breaking a CV. I've seen a 3rd member shit the bed because a guy gave it a little too much gas while locked and turning on the high traction rock. The insane traction kept the inner tire from slipping and PoP!, goodbye rear 3rd.

Edit: I do carry a fullsize spare and extra LT axle though. If I had one I would bring an extra 3rd and just stow it away at camp.

I can tell you right now if you take the 287 route, it will take you for fucking ever to get from DFW area to amarillo. Yall need to go I20 out of Fort Worth all the way to west of sweetwater and cut up 84 to Lubbock and take 27 straight up to amarillo. Speed limits are 75+ and are quick direct routes without having to stop in every little piece of crap town.

This is true. 287 is horrible especially once you get west of Wichita Falls. Taking 20 the faster route through Texas.

Where are all you Bama guys meeting up? I'm gonna be coming from South Florida so once I hit Mobile, I'm taking 98 up toward Hattiesburg and the 49 to Jackson. I'm going to be leaving my place on the 3rd so I can meet y'all wherever.

I'm out of Mobile so you can meet up with me and we can convoy it to middle AL where I'm sure everyone else will be meeting up.
