Okay I'm stuck in quite the predicament. I'm active duty military in Kodiak and need to ship my vehicle to Seattle however due to the government International Auto logistics company I cannot ship my vehicle with an airbag light. The other thing is Toyota is giving me the run-around about replacing the clockspring/spiral cable even though it is on recall. Toyota's located in Anchorage and I'm located on an island. Called the parts department and they still haven't ordered the damn thing. Which means time is up. It takes a week for it to ship to Anchorage and another week for it to ship to where I am. And I leave before that and can't even get a hold of the guy who handles recalls over there anymore. My guess is he is on vacation. I need to know how and if anybody has been sucessful in disabling the airbag light without the check engine light coming on and so forth so I can keep my vehicle and not have to sell it for dirt cheap due to limited-time because Toyota won't even talk and get back to me about this recall. I already know that the government International Auto logistics company does not hook up an OBD scanner. Therefore if I can get this light to turn off for a short amount of time like 3 weeks until it arrives in Seattle. I can get it to a dealership that actually honors recalls and dosent sit around waiting for another dealership to do it for them so I can get this recall taken care of and be back safely on the road. Any advice?

    I grasping at straws here...
Can you tape over it, will they actually look that closely?
Can you ship the car without a battery? Probably not that doesn't make sense
You could say it's a normal characteristic of the truck like Toyota dealers do.
I wonder how long it takes for the light to come back on after you disconnect and reconnect the battery...maybe you could slip it in there before it comes back on.
    Those are my "bright-ideas".

Or just take the cluster out and then put black tape on the led and reassemble

I think it would just be easier to by the new clock spring assembly off E bay. They are something like $30 bucks. Easy to change out.

Well it is done and they're trying to get the leaf springs here before I move as well. I just called corporate and it was done two days later. Who knows, perhaps they saw this thread. Thanks for the support though. Can you believe that the autoshop recommend I get a new battery for no good reason (well in there defense they said "it will eventually die" to which I replied "yeahh... everything dies eventually, what's wrong with it?" like a savage.) and also wanted to clean my throttle body for a measly $360. I made sure I brought my voltmeter+battery charger, starting fluid you name it when I went to pick it up. The battery was fine and when I got home and cleaned the throttle body. It was pristine with the exception of the plasti-dip in it plus the fact that it idled fine when I dropped it off... I'm going to try some of the spray-seafoam tomorrow. Thinking about making youtube videos too!
