Ha funny I was just looking for the same information...

Today I found the Thule Xsporter for Sub 700.00 and was able to get a bit better deal, free shipping no tax!!

I need to be able to use it for RTT in the lower setting and for paddle boards in the higher setting.

i went with a Baja Flat rack. Mainly because I was looking for a sleek clean look. Had same setup on my 4 runner and was extremely happy. never had a problem with not having a basket style was able to support anything I stored on top. will be using rack most for overland tent. I had a bed rack on my F150 and it got a pain removing it when I need to haul something larger in the back. (i make alot of homedepot trips!)

I like that rack. Can it support a roof tent with people in it? I was looking into getting a roof rack like that for the same purpose but all the racks are like a 200lb weight capacity..

    Went to my brother..sorry

I'm rocking them. There was a dude in an Audi last weekend trying to get around me while I was backing into a spot. He stopped right in front of me with his windows open so I let him have it and he almost jumped out of his car..

Make sure you know the difference between static and dynamic ratings on roof racks..

The weight capacity for the rack is 200 pounds, but that is rated for working weight. (while driving). roof tents run from 120-150 pounds, so that is not an issue. Static weight rating is typically 1/3 of working, so you should be around 600 pounds support when static. I had same set up on my 4runner and we use to put 3 people in lawn chairs on top of runner.

I am eventually going to get that Baja rack also, unless my buddies Rack Co ends up making one for the Taco.

I am using the Thule for my RTT and paddle boards, so I needed/wanted the Tele-scoping pillar option.

Limitation with our inner truck bed molding and pillars, so I am going to cut my pillars a bit so I can lower for RTT when needed.

This Thule set up is super beefy and very snug fitting, so it should do well off road.

@Wdwrkr: Since you're in the Northeast, I can fabricate a rack for you, to your specification, and either deliver it - or meet you halfway. PM me for more details, and take a look at the thread of the rack I fabricated for myself here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-home-brewed-bed-rack.440908/#post-12811322

Price-wise, I'd be able to build you a custom-build rack that'll hold a whole ton of weight, for less money than a bolt-together rack.

Are these racks for sale...I'd love to have them on my roof...I am sure that it would complement my shark fin and my sunroof (I guess they call them moon roofs now).
