Oh wow, I went through this with my 2004! Only it was my truck that I bought new. If it wasn't coated in the TSB time frame then you are out of luck with Toyota. Trust me on that.

Fixing it is certainly an option, I was considering that, but the problem is that it's kind of a Band-Aid and you will have to deal with it again in the future. I sold my truck for not much more than scrap weight, full disclosure to someone who had already fixed one. This is the reason I have my 2013.

It must be that times have changed Perhaps this dealer is a few hours away Myself I would have talked in person .

If this is repaired correct I see no reason Why it would not Last another 15 years

I have not had a good Adventure in Years Throw the goodies in the Truck make a Road Trip

Give me a chance to visit friends out thata way

Any other frame of this vintage unless your after it all the time you will be back to the same issue

I need an excuse to have a adventure !!

Getting time off of work would be the major problem

It has been a few years And most likely I would not push as hard but I could make ST Louis in about 12 hours

If the OP was close The truck would have been fixed already

I have one 02 down the road both sides in the same area rusted out the Owner has been driving it like this for 2 years about 10,000 miles a year .

Sad really both Sons killed in Vehicle crashes

I'm not digging through the prior pages seeing if this has been posted. I watch this guy often but everyonce in awhile he does questionable repairs. Here he fixes a rusted Tacoma frame.

Hell yeah Wyoming! Hook it up! Mini, make it worth his while!
I love when a forum of enthusiasts pulls stuff off like this.
Wyoming, are you set up as a rig welder? Maybe there are some other frames along the way, or not too far out of the way, that need some repair as well? Cool deal man, cool.

@Wyoming09 I would love your help if you're offering. I'm in south central Indiana and haven't driven the truck since I found the crack. Let me know what you need from me and I'll make all the preparations necessary.

Awesome offer to the OP. I'm about 2.5 hours east of Saint Louis and probably about that far from OP. If you guys were to need any help I can chip in on the weekends if this happens.

I started one video from him years ago and turned it off. He's a knucklehead. Not to say some of his info isn't accurate, don't know. But I couldn't watch his stuff

If it would help OP my new frame came in and I would assume that Toyota is just going to scrap my old one when the swap happens. If you are interested in my old one (much better than your current frame) I can ask the dealer if I can take it.

If @Wyoming09 can weld it up and you can swap out the frame yourself it may work out better for you. Let me know, I will be contacting Toyota tomorrow to set up an appointment.

I don't think I'll be able to swap out frames without a good garage. The one available to me doesn't want a frame swap to occur in it. I'll let you know if that changes. I appreciate it though

No way will a Toyota dealer every let anyone have a scrapped frame as they come out in pieces

In this age of far to many Lawyers just like all the bought back Tacoma`s with all the good parts were crushed

Has no one ever seen the piles of frame parts at the dealer I asked about this a few years back quite a few good parts could be removed like cab and body mounts cross members etc

I fell sorry for ya but you're done. With a crack like that in a frame it's time to park it. If that frame rail starts bending which it will and probably already has it's going to screw up even more components on that truck. If it fails completely you'll have even bigger problems. If Toyota won't replace it you can still buy a new frame for around $3500, I think, and then get some friends and family together to do the swap if you really like the truck enough. However, I'd park it or start parting it out. ASAP! I suspect that it's very possible that a crack that serious wasn't there when you bought it or you would have seen it. The off-roading may have done it in but the fact of the matter is that it's there now so park it before you end up with far more expensive problems than you have now. Think lawsuit and huge increases in insurance premiums.
Everybody makes or has made mistakes. With something like this you just have to press on.

Just hang in there Corey !!

We will get this figured out and fixed

I am thinking about this pretty often .

Working on some design changes to make this one even stronger .

Trying to find a rusted out Truck worse then yours Never fails never any close

Even Original Owners never got the notices from Toyota in the mail and quite a few got thrown out never opened thinking it was a sales pitch .

Just who is selling these new Frames ??At $3500.00

It sure is not Toyota not till all the warranty Claims are done .

I was on a Toyota Parts website about a year ago and just for fun checked to see if I could buy a new frame for my 2004. There it was straight from Toyota for around $3500. I haven't checked since and maybe they don't stock them anymore but it's worth a try to call the dealer. Here's a link to the site.http://toyotapartsestore.com/oemparts/toyota-2015/frame_sub_assy_5100104230.html
