I went out to my truck and found my antenna was missing. I've searched the threads on here that have to do with broken antennas. The photo above shows what I have going on. Basically, I have a hole. Some of the thread talk about drilling, while others talk about using an easy out. I hate to do anything until someone chimes in and tells me what I'm dealing with. You can see a hole with smooth walls. Is this the stub of my antenna? Do I have to remove the metal shaft that is in the center of my antenna assembly. Do aftermarket antennas somehow attach my base? I'd appreciate some information from anyone. Thanks.

Can you see any threads down inside or possibly the stub of the antenna mast?

As long as the mast didn't snap off inside, this is all you have to do. Auto Zone has a few universal masts that will work. I use the Metra AW-RM1R rubber duckie and it fits just fine. The performance is a little worse but they have others that are pretty much exactly like the original.

also if the threads are still visible you can look at sites like antennax.com. the antennas come with different inserts to fit your model vehicle.

I don't see any threads inside the hole. I stuck a drill rod into the hole and hit bottom at about a half inch down. The problem I have is not knowing if this is a broken off antenna or if I can get a replacement antenna that screws right into this hole. I can't see the bottom of the hole. I don't know if I have to take this metal shaft out, disassemble my whole antenna assembly, or just buy an antenna that attaches in seconds to what I have here. I very much appreciate the help so far. Thanks, guys. The problem still remains -- How screwed am I?

Looks and sounds like someone just unscrewed it.
I accidentally broke mine off and I could clearly see the broken mast in the hole.
Grab a flashlight and peak down the hole. You should be able to tell if there are threads or a broken mast.

It looks like you have Australia made out of a coat hanger there.

Okay, an update . . . After using a flashlight, it appears there is a smaller diameter threaded hole that begins a half inch below the surface of hole you see in the photo above. I called the parts guy at the dealership who said all I need is a new antenna ($48). The base seems to be fine. Possibly someone stole mine. Possibly it simply fell off. Either way, I'm glad I don't have to do any tinkering with it. Thanks for your help, everyone.

Looks like someone just stole it cause it looks clean. Probably punk@ss kids. I had mine stolen off my frontier back in the day.

Only cost $2 to replace but more of the annoyance than anything.

No, I have never put my truck through a car wash. I wash it by hand in the driveway. It takes me 15 minutes. So it wasn't a car wash.

Tried looking for a better price online for that antenna mast, but that's about the going rate when you pay shipping costs.

For your reference, the P/N is 8630904110.

I park under a bush and the bush bends my antenna a tiny bit each time. in 4 months of this
found my antenna loose and ready to fall out. cranked down with a wrench, never loosens

so, from new, my antenna was not very tight at all. dealer installs whip antenna, dealer failed.

    Maybe OP can snag it..

Shipping tube is probably why it costs so much to ship.. most online retailers were $13-15 shipping.
