The wind is picking up a bit which can help fuel the fire and limit air resources abilities, but they are starting to lift some of the evacuation orders.

That's a helluva picture...having survived the Grand Prix fire of 2003 (Fontana) and Cedar fire of 2004, as well as the Witch Creek fire of 2007...sincerely hoping for an early and safe resolution to the Blue Cut et al.

We're recent transplants (1 year) to SoCal from WV. We always payed attention to the wildfires since we have a son in NoCal. Living here gives you an entirely new perspective and respect for just how dry and volatile the whole state is. Hopefully the weather cooperates and they can make some headway on containing the Blue Cut.

I'm going to retell a story that I posted on Expo 3.5 years ago regarding the Cedar Fire. It will be 13 years ago this October.

Almost 10 years ago on October 26, 2003 I woke up to what appeared to be Armageddon. I was camping out in North Park (a urban community of central San Diego). I went out at 8 am and looked up and I could not see the sun. The sky was black and gray, ash rained down from above. It would appear that someone had succeeded in detonating a thermonuclear device or so I thought. It was like that. It was the end of the world. I had to move myself and my girlfriend on this day, so we rented a u-haul and began moving ourselves. Information about why the sky was scorched was not readily available, and information was sketchy. Nobody knew what was going on. Random pedestrians stopped us at stoplights asking us where we were fleeing from, desperately trying to figure out what was happening. Weirdest and scariest day of all time. The event was the Cedar fire, which was started by a man who was lost in the Cleveland Nat'l forest. I think 13 people perished overall, and it was the largest fire complex in recorded California history.

I recall Cedar Fire and Witch Creek Well. It was difficult to accept just how damaging Witch Creek was on the heels of Cedar. They are etched into the minds of so many.

Thanks for the update. I've been under the car for a day and a half. All done with that thing for a long while I think.

I imagine Blue Cut will go down in CA history as one of the big ones for sure. They're saying 57 sq miles burned, 96 homes destroyed :(, no deaths reported

Crom...been studying your BT with respect to cargo hold solutions...really like the U.S. Cargo aircraft rail system...could you please tell me, about how thick is your rubber Tacoma bed mat? Been trying to locate one, and all I am finding is a .375 inch thick mat...do you think that would work to cover the other 10% of the rail system for flush mounting?

Thanks in advance...and for all the tips!

Yes a .375" thick mat should do the trick well. I don't have any measurements for the 2nd gen Toyota bed mat. The mat itself has varying degrees of thickness due to the raised Tacoma lettering and alternating styling of ridges and valleys.

The l-track sits well between the bed ribs, and only pokes up a very small amount above them like 1-2 mm.

Here are some old photos I took which may help you.

Height of bed mat in this specific location. I can't tell if it's a valley or ridge in the mat from the photo. I suspect it's a ridge.

You can see the alternating height in the tread blocks of the styled mat and the depth of the track.

Dude...I wish you were a little more thorough?:rofl::rofl:

    Picture perfect...thank you sir.

I've been using painted plywood and a rudimentary mount system for my fridge...this track system seems much more economical and easier to configure than mine.

EDIT: Crom...are your anchor points color coded...port and starboard? That is awesome...:)

Haha Thanks @Ghost65. I have different colored fittings because of different batches of orders. I like high contrast stuff so I can see better in dimly lit conditions.

And for storing the fittings, yes, port side is green, and starboard has the red ones. lol :)

True...but in your defense, depends on which way the truck is facing.

WeatherTech Custom Fit Front FloorLiner for Toyota Tacoma

I bought these floor mats when the truck was very new. I've had them for so long, I can't remember the truck without them.

After seven years of use, they show no signs of wearing out.
