I just finished doing a compression test on the tacoma.
    Cylinder : PSI
    1 : 190
    2 : 170
    3 : 160
    4 : 182
    5 : 190
    6 : 180

I'm debating doing the timing belt and water pump on this engine or just driving until it fails and then swap the engine from the parts truck in. That one has 181,000kms and the belt and pump were done at 150,000kms.

Well, depends: How much do you like being stranded by a dead truck? LOL

Meh, I don't get the feeling that the engine is on it's last leg. I anticipate it will manifest some other symptoms before it actually dies.
It's going back together as is!

AC is back in and all together.
It's been a long time since I've seen those hoses all there and connected where they should be.
I do need to grab a belt an AC belt and put it on.

This thread, your work, and the progress is just impressive.

Definition of a Taco that is built and not bought.

    Thanks bro.

Rust repair is coming very soon. I'm considering removing the rust and then driving it 4 properties away from my shop where there is a local auto body shop and request a quote to paint it. If it's under $1000 I may go for it.

I hope your rust repair is successful!

I do not envy the rust you folks get up there. My truck has lived its whole life in Arizona, and the view under the hood is like night and day.

Yeah, I want to vomit every time I look at the engine. A lot of that is what the previous owner(s) put it through.
My donor engine does not look as bad. The exhaust manifolds look way better than the ones on there now.

I read the whole damn thread.

My Canadian friend this is some fine work you've put into this Taco, and the 4Runner.

Makes me want to do the same to my old truck which is sitting in my driveway waiting to be sold... but I haven't a paved driveway let alone a shop and the necessary tools.

    Good work!
