Non TRD is likely the same coil, just a different shock.

Food for thought, $200 for used shocks and coils is pretty steep.

You can buy a complete set of take offs off a new/like new truck for $100 here without trying hard. He says 20k miles, but how old is his truck? Not sure I'd necessarily believe the mileage claims, but either way, $200 is a lot of dough to risk on a "might work" OEM shock setup.

Unless you're in a situation of need or have the cash to blow, I'd probably pass on these and get a much better deal elsewhere.

    check out this website, http://toyotapartsestore.com

You can find out what the OEM parts are for your truck based on year, model, specs, ect. Might be easier to track down specific info that way on the OEM parts

Stock trd coils for 1st gens are like around 520 ish. Dont quote me on that. If all you want is some lift get some bilstein 5100's adjustables (the silver and black ones). Lift applicable from 0-1-2.5 inches.

There has never been a published OEM spring rate for 1st gen coils. The most accepted number is around 475. Brand new, TRD trucks actually sat a tad lower than the standard suspension. Note that the TRD coils are a progressive rate so a single rate number will not apply. All others are liner rate. Further the TRD coils would sag in the upper progressive section very fast and are pretty much considered worthless.
Would you see any lift? Doubtful, even with 20K they are likely tired.
Toyota made at least a dozen different coils for the 1st gen. Back in the day folks could get a cheap lift by putting say, V6 excab coils on a 4cyl reg cab. This usually gave about 1 inch. The OEM Billies are also considered kind of a joke.

Nitrogen pressurized shocks do contribute to spring load and subsequently "lift". With the small diameter shock shafts found on OEM/OEM type shocks this is next to nothing. With a shaft diameter of 7/8" and 200psi this becomes more significant, about 120lbs at full extension in this case.

Extreme case of sagging TRD coils. Note the upper coils nearly collapsed.

I can only go by experience. I've owned both SR5 and TRD version of the same truck.

I found that the SR5 was a much better ride. My thought is the springs were the same or very similar, but the shocks where the contributing factor for ride quality. I honestly hate the ride of the TRD suspension.

I presently have the TRD version as my daily driver, but miss the ride of my former SR5.

    Hope this helps.

Yep, most considered the whole TRD suspension a downgrade from stock. The "special camber" rear springs were equally bad.

gez all this info, damn well yes i'm only looking to lift my truck up a bit, and i figured the coils would of lifted my truck a bit because of the v6 coils, but im starting to think i should only go for a pare of adjustable shocks and throw my springs in them for a lift... is there anything other than billies? you guys saved me from wasting money

    thanks everyone!!

Rancho QuickLift shocks are a similar competitor. Not sure if they're available for your application, but I would imagine they are.

I'm going to probably call bilstein tomorrow, but dose anyone know why they don't recommend using the stock coils on the 5100's?

will they just make them wear faster?

I couldn't find a price for the rancho quick lifts give some people a call tomorrow and find out

Because they have a contract with Eibach.

    That's it.

    Stock coils are just fine.
