I completely understand. Just didn't realize I was grouped with the fucktards that pay shops. No offense taken, trust me. Just thought there was a little bit more trust in my abilities then there is. It's ok, after all we have only met twice.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
So I have spent the last couple of days trying to fully dissect why my old trans blew. I had chocked it up to two things: improper TV Cable and overheating(likely caused by TV Cable) but I have also been tossing around the idea that I may have been trying to hold the trans in a weird between gear position as well causing some issues... the Burrito still uses the factory Toyota Shifter which did not line up detent wise with the 700r4 most notably between R and N and when I wanted to go into D I would place the shifter in the neutral position and if I wanted R I would place it between P and R in a blank spot in the shifter cover.

I am starting to think that I may have not been allowing the trans to be fully shifted or pushing it between 3rd and 4th and since the OD control was via a push button I was able to allow OD to work in a lower gear than I should have meaning I was basically holding the trans in 3rd and it never got that chance to hit 4th but I was able to get that 30% OD which brought down my Highway RPMs.

I am looking at getting a new shifter assembly that works with the 700R4 that has the detents in the correct location but before I drop 200 bones and add another project to my list I want you smart folks to weigh in....Thoughts?

Makes more sense to make it all work correctly vs patching with duct tape like the previous owner did.

Also the old transmission had a manual lock up on the torque convertor but when I had the new one built I had it changed back to a HD Auto since I found it to be a PITA trying to engage and disengage the lockup and forgetting it was locked coming to a stop...

Yeah I was thinking I may have been not allowing the trans to do it's thing by not having the correct positioning set on the trans. It is likely that he had swapped the right 4 speed detented bracket in the stock shifter but I doubt it.

I still believe that making what was started work correctly may be the most cost effective for you.

Does the tcase use an adapter plate to bolt up to the 700r4? Or would say swaping to an Atlas or higher end crawlbox be better for the Chevy trans and add some manual hubs?

    Remove electronics wherever possible?

Am I even on the right track here?
