I dont shoot that far out but I have a 400yd target I shoot at and its clear and I can hit the 10" gong no problem. I would be willing to bet the top of the line vortex hold up just as good as any other optics for your 1000/1500yds...

I've run the 4-16 PST out to 1050, you can't count the hairs on a knat's ass but you can id what your shootin at. It really depends on the lighting, the 6-24 PST has better clarity, but still it is nowhere near my USO 3-17. The USO allow me to follow trace into the target out to 975 as well as clarity in lowlight the Vortex can't keep up. The Vortex PST is a good entry level scope in the precision shooting class of scopes, it returns to zero, tracks well and has decent clarity. My 4-16 PST is 7yrs old and on the second rifle and it gets used roughly (compared to how other folks use their stuff) my AR get about 1000 - 1200 rounds through it / year.

If you're looking to shoot out to 1000+ yards on a regular basis you should look into the Vortex Razor.

I'll keep an eye on that, thanks for the heads up.

I've read good things, no personal experience because there's nowhere to shoot that range around here.
My nikon prostaff was not able to clearly see the sign with the same conditions.

That's my point, in comparing it to other models of the same price Point and ability, how do they stack up?

All the scopes in the similar price point of the PST are going to be about the same.

It all comes down to the quality of the glass and the coatings then it has to do with the precision of the erector system. In this class of scopes the reticle is etched into one of the lenses, the thickness of the reticle comes into play, is it a first focal plane or second. Even high $ scopes have issues, search Steiner tx5i, they had some crazy tracking issues when first released, they may have it sorted out now.

For any of you who may be mil/leo and are not aware, vortex also has an awesome discount program. The best one I've found from anyone so far (personal experience).

SOE makes good stuff. I have the EDC low profile and it works well. Super sturdy but not heavy.

I just use a good leather belt from tractor supply (I think it was $15) and it works fine for my fill size M&P 40.

Went shooting today and managed to break the stock on my marlin XT-22, they made the sling mount out of polymer and they don't hold up to use as a bipod mount.
Not really sure how to fix it but I'm thinking about using fiberglass bondo to make a smooth fore end and put a picatiny rail section in it's place.

Probably the best way to fix it is take the action outa the stock drill it out and use a steel swivel, it wouldn't hurt to use some JB weld to lock it all together.

I talked to some guys on another forum (Quite a few gunsmiths over there) and they recommended an epoxy to build the area to a smooth fore end and then install a stud like so, install the nut in the stock and epoxy in place.
    We'll see how it goes.

That's what JB Weld is, it's a steel infused epoxy, you can get the it at Lowes or HDepot or any hardware store, Devcon you get through Midway USA or Brownells

I agree with you on the leather belt, I buy the $10 stiff belts from Walmart and use them all the time, why people are paying 50 and $80 for a belt that's being called holster specific is beyond me !
