Yep. I admit I had my head up my ass on that one. Stopped into the dealership this morning, met with the salesman and reviewed my paperwork and he stuck to his guns saying oil and everything ever 5k till 60k, walked to the service department and said what I paid for and service manager stuck to his guns, saying 10k. So we had a disagreement between the two. Looked on the second page at cancelation policy, which allows cancelation for 100% refund within 30 days of purchase. Today is day 27. Told them to cancel it, got my paperwork and refund going to the back end of my finance.

Just got my 5k service done at Camelback Toyota, AZ. Did oil change without having to ask about it and mentioned rev issues in cruise and got the TSB trans flash. 1hr 15min from check in to back in the truck driving off the lot.

why the heck would you take it in at 5k if you are not getting oil changed? Why waste your time?

All cars need is oil/filter changes. All that 30 point inspection is just crap.

Don't need rep telling me we can hook you up with the cabin air filter service for $89.99.

synthetic rubber tires don't need rotation until 10K miles....okay kidding.

Yeah I guess you are right on that....

For only ONE reason. To have it on record for warranty issues and tire rotation.

Got my 10,000 oil change today (thought it should be 5000). My fuel usage MPG increased almost 5 miles per gallon. Don't know how long that will last but I am going on a long trip and will report back.
    I think 5000 and change.

It has always been my experience that every 5k (6 months) = tire rotation/inspection and every 10k (1 year) = oil change. From reading this thread, sounds like a lot of good oil/money is being wasted....BUT its your vehicle so do as you please

I don't care what the book or anyone else says. 5k is my limit and tbh, I don't even like that number. I'm a 3-4k changer and always will be.

I do, yes. Others might not. It's your truck. If I was you, I'd start sending samples to Blackstone every 3-4k and get their opinion, then make your judgement call. It's personal preference for me to not go beyond 5k but I personally believe that 10k number is not in the best interest of your engine, it's so they have to do less labor until your warranty runs out.

The standard included with the vehicle at no extra charge is the 2 year service which includes top-offs, 2 tire rotations and 2 oil/filter changes sometime within those 24 months. My dealer told me they don't care when I use them. Due to stupid covid crap I have done very little driving, had the truck for two years now and less than 8k miles on it. They didn't say anything when I brought it in for the four free services. Only used the dealer for future warranty purposes if needed. From now on I'll be doing my own servicing.

What would they charge you for? If they cross threaded something, I'd take it back and have them replace and fix whatever they messed up. At that point it becomes less about what I can fix vs what I want them to know their guys in the service department are effing up on peoples vehicles and they need to make it right.

Evidence? Sounds like you are getting 12 oil changes sir. I'd be all over that one just for the fun of it to stick it to the dealer. The real question is what paperwork did you sign and what does it say? Conflicting evidence can be troublesome, but can still land you a win.

*Edit, seems like you already answered. Good for you. Even after 30 days I would have fought that one due to all the misinformation and nobody being on the same page.

That's bullshit. What does your paperwork say? Many of us got the same deal where they don't care if we bring it in early. Sounds like your dealer is just being a PITA. Sorry to hear that. I'd fight em on that one too tho.

I changed mine at 894 miles. It was dark enough. And I installed a Fumoto valve and an aluminum oil filter housing.

I’ll change it again in the driveway at 5,000 miles.

And then I’ll (maybe) have the dealer change it at 10,000. But I’ll probably do it in the driveway.

And I document with photos, too.

^^^ Is that dark enough at 894 miles? You only get one chance to change it early. :)

It's mileage AND time. When I brought mine in for the 12 month service the service manager said "we'll be changing the oil". Between being retired & the Covid shit I had less than 3K miles on my truck. Of course dealers vary wildly. When I bought my Taco I was skeptical when my relatively small dealer quoted me a price that beat the nearby larger volume dealers. I asked him about BS add-ons like VIN etching & he simply said "we don't do that".
