I like to use my Yaesu FT 8900R in my Truck for cross band. It puts out 65 watts. For when my HT can't hit a repeater.

Not really other then extra battery or bring charger. The 3800 mAh Li-ion Batteries are awesome and last for days.

I just saw this on a Toyota group on FB. Just posted.

"Northern Colorado Amateur Radio Club is putting on an Amateur Radio Technical level class on Oct 29 and Nov 5; this class will run both days with testing on Nov 5 for all who would like. There is no fee for this class and we even supply lunch for everyone who attends, instructors must bring a sack lunch lol!

This is a first come first service however there is room of approximately 60 students, so to sign up please reply back to this email or send me a note to treasure@ncarc.net. Hope to see you there."

"The class will be at the Poudre Valley REA building near the I-25 Windsor exit. It's a class being held for the 4x4 community, but I believe it will focus on the Technician test. I'm not the class organizer, so I can't say for sure if APRS will be covered specifically."

Didn't even know this thread existed until now. From Tucson, but going to college in Durango. Been up here for almost 4 years now and love it.

Cool and Welcome, we seemed to have lost momentum in the Colorado HAM cert drive.

That's a bummer. I actually took my tech test in Durango a couple years ago, there was a pretty good amount of other guys taking the test, but there aren't many testing sessions offered in Durango, once every couple months I think. I got some of my friends into the hobby back in Tucson, they looked up testing sessions, there is 1 or 2 a week.

My take is they prefer the Snoopy teacher's, "whoomp, wah, whee" over clear crisp FM.

I thought @Gramps hearing was too far gone so it wouldn't matter which band he used on the radio :notsure:
