Hey guys! I'm new to the site so forgive me if this has been asked already but just ordered me a 2017 Tacoma TRD off-road but it won't be here until three weeks according to the dealership....I was wanting to know if I put a 3" suspension lift (Rough Country), would I be able to run 285/75/16 Toyo Open Country M/T's on the stock wheels with no rubbing? Also, I've heard that particular size tires gives the gears some issues. I'm new to the Tacoma world so don't know what will work and what won't. I'm coming out of a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd with 35's on it so it's a little of a change lol. Thanks in advance very much

Welcome! Are you asking if the suspension you picked is good with that tire combination?

Truth time. That's a terrible kit. Spacer lifts on our vehicles that you intend to use Offroad are nothing but trouble. Yes you can fit 285's on a three inch lift and yes your gearing/acceleration/gas mileage will suffer, but that's the trade off. Get a good quality kit. Price point you are looking to spend will depend on what you do. Billies/coils and leaf pack on the bottom end and full on coil overs on the top end.

Lots of guys love the OME kits. Others will build the coil overs with new springs and shocks. All are good options

There are guys on here that run 285's with no lift at all on the 16/17

^^What he said!! Stay away from drop bracket or spacer lifts get a decent suspension lift and save yourself the headache. I work right next to Toytec and have always went there!

OP, doing this the right way is gonna be more than the 284.99 that rough country is gonna set you back. I'd count on minimum 1,000.

Ok thanks guys...I'm just not to familiar with the lifts but I have seen a Tacoma with those size tires on it and just liked the way it looked. Just didn't know what I needed to do to run these size tires.

The 3" lift at rough country I was looking at was $999. I haven't seen anything for $284

Read reviews, search the forum, check out all the different builds on here and you can get a good idea on what A LOT of other guys run on their rigs and go from there ! :)

I would personally stay away from rough country, tough country, rancho, skyjacker and all those other "similar" brands ...

It's even worse then the spacer lift. It incorporates a drop bracket with a spacer. Stay away. But again, if you're not using the truck Offroad...go for it. If the look is all you want. We all have our needs

I think that's a great idea. And you won't be disappointed either. I beat my toytec liked a hooker and she surpassed all my expectations.
