Hey Guys, does anyone know of a direct fit or have you replaced your cigarette lighter with a USB Outlet on a first Gen? I've seen lots of threads on the 2nd Gen's but not much on the 1st.
I'm wanting to do away with the type of adapter that you plug into your lighter and then plug your usb connection into.
I'd rather not use the two 12volt accessory plugs because I have the "jumper mod" so they are hot all the time. Most of the USB Power Outlets come with a LED light when powered. I just wouldn't want that on 24/7 even though it's a low power draw.

    Appreciate your help and time.

Similar to this, that would be a direct fit if the lighter were removed.

@cynicalrider I believe has this on his build thread. Once you pull the 12v socket out I do believe a little dremaling is required to open up the hole a little that might just be on what brand you go with though. Have seen quite a few guys with this mod though.

if you have the jumper mod done, i don't think changing the outlet for a usb power source will make any difference. even a USB outlet has some sort of draw. youre better off getting the dual port 4.8 amp charger from monoprice here. my phone charges at 1.9 amps when using the 4.8 amp charger and a high quality charging/data cable.

Hey Norcal, appreciate the link. Is this the one you ordered/installed?? I may just replace the 12 volt plug with this since it doesn't appear to have a led light.

That's the one I have. I'm pleased with it. It's definitely the simplest solution. Enjoy!

That's the one - however I've an older Gen 1 so I installed into the center console just under the arm rest. I am going to install another one in the extra lighter hole.

Norcal, appreciate the response. You put the idea in my head to do the same. That way when my son is in the back he can plug his iPad in. Sometimes coming to this site cost me money!!:D

Sorry I'm late to the party, this is the one I installed. It's hardwired in so it looks a bit more OEM/cleaner.
