So I'm returning to my roots after owning a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. I had so much fun with her but needed to start saving for a house. So i started searching for a clean low mileage 1st gen. After several weeks I found exactly what I was looking for. A 2004 DCSB TRD OR 4x4 with 92000 miles! The only problem was it was located in PA and I was in NM! I was a little worried about frame rust but the Toyota Dealership assured me the frame was sound with no holes and was covered for another 3 years for frame replacement. I loved the price of 13800 so I flew out and picked her up a few weeks ago and drove back home. She runs great and I couldn't be happier with the interior and body condition! Here are a few pictures!

As for the bad she does need some work.
    1) Frame is covered in rust and needs to be cleaned up ASAP.
    2) Suspension is shot and leaf springs
    3) New tires and obviously rims
    4) Front right headlight is broken but still is hanging on and works. Both headlights need to be cleaned or replaced.
    5) Drive shifter light is out not a big deal.

So needless to say theres a long road ahead but cant wait to get her back into shape! And after having her for several weeks there's something nostalgic about the 1st Gen that I just love and the simplicity of it. I have previously owned two 1st gen single cab trucks and a 2012 DCSB TRD OR 4x4. I will post my build threads for the Jeep and 2012 Tacoma if anyone is interested also.

And my 2015 Jeep Wrangled Unlimited Rubicon build. The Jeep community is really great and these things are so capable and easy to modify. Maybe one of these days I will get another one but it will be a while!

Starting off slow with this build so this week I replaced the drive shaft light and both headlights with the Amazon special 48 dollar headlights. So far both have turned out great! Not the greatest pictures but the headlights look amazing after replacing the hazzy old ones. I also sealed the lights with a silicone gel to hopefully prevent any leakage. My tailgate was also a pain to close so I PB blasted it and works like a charm now.

Super impressed with the Amazon headlights. They look great and i actually get good light output and can see at night. Already went through a few rainstorms and held up great! Here's a better pic!

Also changing to all black TRD OR decals. Accidentally ordered a second gen set from a TW member then decided I wanted 1st gen. Found these on eBay for only 10 bucks so i thought I'd try them out. They don't look bad maybe not as clean cut on the Toyota Racing Development but otherwise good. We will see long term though.

My niece was visiting this weekend so I wanted to take her to some hot springs up in the mountains. There's a rocky fire road to the springs and we got behind a lifted Jeep and Chevy that were crawling at a slow pace. I followed closely for a mile or two then a spot finally opened up and I took It! Floored the truck and drove past them. I dont think the Jeep guy liked it cause he tried following me as fast as he could but he couldn't keep up so I finally lost him. By the way considering how many miles are on these shocks and springs it drives considerably well on the dirt. Anyways, got to the parking lot and started walking to the hot springs. I saw the Jeep finally pull in as we were getting out of sight of the parking lot. I didn't think we would have any problems but I thought wrong. After exploring a little bit a guy came up and asked if I had a silver Tacoma because some guy in a Jeep busted the window. Sure enough the a-hole threw his wrench through my rear passenger window and took off. Kinda mad but just glad he didnt damage any of the body or I would have been really pissed! Now i gotta find a place to replace the window! Yay for spending money on something that should be for the suspension.

A little bored today so i decided to clean off the nasty skid plates and repaint them. Probably got a few pounds of mud and crap off them.

The tires on the truck needed to get replaced so I went with a 265/75 16 BFG KO2. Looks pretty good just need my lift now. Had discount tire price match 4 Wheel Parts Sale so i got the tires with warranty for 762 out the door!!

Also got the lifetime alignment at Firestone. The guy said the toe adjustment bolt won't come loose. So he sprayed it heavily with PB Blaster and gotta bring it back in tomorrow.

So happy they were able to get the bolt out finally and now perfectly aligned. Was fearing I would have to find another solution!

Exactly didn't want the new tires going bald! Yeah it's normally 199 but usually you can get them down to 179 plus tax. The lifetime is nice to have especially if you lift your vehicle!

Found this on Craigslist for 380 bucks so couldn't pass it up! Not sure who makes it but think it my be ATC. It's super clean just need to paint match it. The guy also threw in the Tacoma bed mat which works perfect for the dog. Need to clean up the carpet and windows but otherwise I'm super happy with it! Only thing that kind of bugs me is the gab between the shell and cab looks super huge! Maybe the different colors make it look bigger??? Anyways here are some pics!
