my situation may be a little different, i work at a used car lot and part cars out on the side. if for some reason they become un registerable i will part the passat out and strip/part the 6speed jetta to nothing but the body engine and trans and driver seat and make a diesel drag strip car :) we actually stole the 14 jetta with less then 12k miles after the drama came out.

I had a 2010 Jetta TDI before buying my 2013 Tacoma Access Cab. I LOVED driving the VW, and the mileage, but I was having a lot of scary, random electrical issues with the car... glow plug lights, CELs, occasional limp mode, and then the straw that broke the back was when the stock AM/FM CD changer radio (not Nav) just died at 40K and VW said "it's out of warranty; a replacement is $1,600." I had zero confidence in the car at that point and wanted something dead-reliable. This was all before the diesel scandal stuff, of course, but there was also that HPFF issue making me nervous. So I bought my Tacoma and have never looked back. It's totally fun to drive in a different kind of way, and you never realize how useful a truck can be until you have one.

Funny you would say that. The car I had before the GTI was a dead reliable 2002 Camry SE 4 clr 5-speed rare J code (japan Manufacture)car. My daughter then was young and I hated driving a 4 dr car. It was a hoot to drive tho. Like they say.....it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow!

    And Thanks

That is my fear as well. Who knows what will happen and I don't want to be stuck with an illegal car. Defiantly don't want the fix. Value is still poor and everything that the diesel was a selling point for becomes worse than the gas model.

Thanks. Yes, I have had some issues, luckily all under warranty but now that it is up, I do not have confidence in the Jetta. Love the engine and solid feeling but that it about it.

That's what I would like to do. Seems to be a miss with the up in the air feeling about the new auto transmission.

Well I just picked up my 17, so far no regrets but my tdi had some standard vw issues. The tdi was great for mileage but that's about it.

Ya, it seems that when VW moved the jetta production to Mexico they became more problematic. I always ran Gray bottle Power Service for the lubrication properties to combat the HPFP issues.

My issues weren't related to fueling. My DSG was a piece of crap.

That's great. Thanks for the pic. That's exactly what I want except minus the prem/tech package. Agreed, I will miss the 50-60 mpg' but having the versatility of a truck will make up for it. Plus, I no longer have a long commute and gas is pretty cheap here in Charlotte.

There's nothing wrong with the majority of the new tacomas. Get one and don't look back. Some of the small issues have been addressed and you won't have to worry for a late 2016 or 2017 build.

The only issue that may worry some is the diff howling and toyota is looking for a Fix and the issue apparently does not affect the diffs mechanically.

I work for VW and the amount of issues they have with brand new cars pale in comparison to the stuff you read about on here
