It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Hmmm... Does that imply a driveline angle issue? How much extra weight would you say they were, and were they both in the back?

IMO, trying to fix angles is an exercise in futility, unless axle wrap is addressed first. Besides, where are the vibes?

Since improper set up has been discussed...
Improper break in can cause overheating and hardening. This begets a noisy, improperly worn gear set.
Did everyone with the howl perform a reasonable, proper break in procedure with the correct amount of fluid? There is somewhat of a consensus on this among gear manufacturers. If not, I would be curious what a fluid analysis would show.

I wonder if people had to pay extra for this howl. I don't think I have it. Does it come standard or is it an option.

I got my new diff installed yesterday. No noticable howl at first but with the a/c off and the radio off right at 55mph you can hear it change pitch when you feather the throttle. It's very faint. On top of that the service department scratched the plastic around my gear shift. I called this morning to notify the service writer and have another appointment set up for Monday. I am more pissed about the scratches in the plastic than the diff still making noise. Looks worse in person.

It's not a break-in issue. I broke in my first one and it howled anyway. My second howled immediately so there was no chance for it to wear in funny. I did still break it in properly, but that didn't have any impact on the noise.

Most of the howlers start howling after a few thousand miles.

No clue. I noticed it today when I got in the truck. I can only assume they popped that piece out to put it in neutral for some reason. Either way it was unnecessary and I have called and complained.

I'll chime in here I guess, first post. I have a 2016 TRD OR DCLB. Yes, I get that annoying howl. Starts at 52/53 mph, and starts to disappear around 65 I guess. Brought it to the attention of my SA at dealership during 5k service. They blamed it on my rear racks. Wow, I say, it was there before the racks went on, and how do you explain when I let off the throttle, it goes away? He couldn't. It was Friday afternoon, and I had somewhere to be, so if there at 10k they WILL have to address it. I go back in two weeks after vacation for 10k service, and I will be bringing this thread with me.

Thanks, I'll see how it goes. Just trying to get these lazy bastards to take it for a ride is a job in itself!
