    Problem:

I park at a slight 10 degree angle with the drivers side being on the elevated side. Every once in a while after about 1 day of not driving it I will go to start it and it stumbles for about a second before it fires up. Reason for mentioning parked at an angle is that I haven't had this happen parked flat...yet. Starter isn't slow, haven't tested battery. My other two Tacoma's before this never had a hesitation before starting. (07 V6, 01 4 banger)

    Questions:

What could be causing this issue?
Fuel shifting from one side to another? (Even does this with a full tank)
    Vacuum leak/Hose not tight?

    Info:

I park on a 10-15 degree incline as well and I have the stumble whenever I start. I will try parking nose down for the next week to see of that changes it.

I park on a slight incline at work and mine does it maybe once a month when its cold out. No issues during the summer. New battery and resetting the ECU didn't improve anything...

Anyone else have this issue or know what is going on? Mine has done this once in a while since I bought it. It has never failed to start, but once in a while it will stumble like it is flooded and then rev and smooth out. It usually happens after it has sat all day like after work or in the morning.

Instead of starting a new thread I'll try to keep this one going...has anyone found a possible solution to this? My truck starts fine unless it has been sitting all day. It did it today when I left work. Cranks and cranks faster and faster until it barely sputters to life. Sounds like a POS old car. Embarassing for a new truck with 24k.

Today's details: Started perfectly this morning. Sat exactly 8.5 hours in a flat, asphalt lot facing east. Temp was 37 degrees. Rained off and on all day. Gas tank is 3/4 full. I always turn the key and let it sit for 2 chimes to let the fuel pump charge (old habit from owning Jeeps). Cranked and cranked faster and faster and barely seemed to catch and sputtered to life. No check engine light.

I have a warranty (only at 24,740) but really don't want to leave it with dealership only to be told they can't replicate it. What can I do to test it on my own?

Update: Still does it from time to time but I don't want to take it to a dealership for them to say they can't replicate it. 15k miles on her now.

    Anyone else?

My new 2014 Tacoma did this for a while and eventually stopped, maybe after two-dozen times? It hasn't happened in a long time and I'm around 25k now.

My 2015 with less than 10k does this intermittently. Slope makes no difference seems to do it when cold out and hasn't been driven for a bit. I too haven't brought it in to Toyota as I fear the "started fine" response. It hasn't done it in the last month.
My seat clicks when I go around corners all the time and they said they couldn't replicate that so I don't have a lot of faith in them figuring this one out.
    Sorry not much help.

Mine does this as well when starting it up in the morning on my sloped driveway. Sounds like it's trying to start but is sluggish to get going.

Update to this, I've since moved from the apartment and by parking on flat this has stopped completely.

Sounds like a check valve issue for the fuel pump.

I haven't had an issue since my initial reports. Seems to have worked itself out. Weird.

Strange. Ive had 2 tacomas. A 2011, and my current 2013. Both have/had occasional stuttering starts. Mine seem completely random. Ive read many people have the same. Its never failed to start.

2.5 years down the road and this issue cleared up on its own a long time ago.

Your Taco's are probably suffering from bad injectors, they are leaking fuel into the cylinders while parked. Mine was doing the same thing. $2000 later it is fixed. Not sure if it was worth fixing but is really nice for it to start correctly.

    Revived from the depths.

Guess I'll toss in an update, 102k hasn't happened since 2016.
