Wondering if any of you new 2016 Tacoma owners have gone fabby and CMC'd. I put wheels on with too much offset and instead of taking them off, trying to sell them and then buying new ones i'd rather just CMC so maybe later down the road I can go wild and throw on some 285's or bigger.

Wondering if anyone has pictures of before/after and how much they chopped out.

    Thanks!

Cut mine today. May or may not have to cut more off. Will know once I get it off-road. Once I know tires wont rub, I'll plate it back up.

People have been doing it for 11 years without issues. The front plate isn't structural.

Whether it is fine or not I can't comment on, but it is at a mount location....i am almost certain it is considered structural. It might not take much load, but it is directly on one of the load transfer points from body to frame.

As you said though, people have been doing it for years and I know you probably have a lot more real world experience with it than I do (hence the decision to do it).

A cab mount chop has been around forever, without issue.

Dang! Looks like you went pretty far back. It will look good once you prime it and paint it black. Running 35's or something big?

Looks good. That seems to be a good amount to take off. Curious what tool you used to chop it out with? I'm thinking of doing it myself and then having somebody weld a metal patch on to cover it again.

That's what I'm doing. Just going to use a grinder to do the cutting then going to a local weld shop to have them throw it on

I used a air powered 3" cut off wheel. Tried to use a sawzall but its not real practical with the gussets in behind and the cab mount. Takes a solid 15 minutes per side to cut.

Had to do a little more clearancing. Was getting just a little rub in reverse. Tire is super close to the front of the inner fender too. But I'm not removing or cutting them

Did my cutting this weekend with a 3" air cutting wheel like you did. I noticed on your first pic, you cut it just like I did at first because that's a really awkward angle to get to. I ended up going realllly slow and scribing the top the best I can and then smashed it with a hammer, and bent it back up and repeated a few times. Then cleaned it up. The Bamf CAC plates fit great now. Just something to think about if you rub on that corner

Dang! If it is that close on level ground what about when the front is flexed out. Have you lifted the truck at all?

What are the dimensions of your tire? 285/70/16 or something?
