Tire question (I'm on a time crunch)

Was gonna do it today after work but had to take my daughter to the er. All is good and this should be happening tomorrow. Thanks for all the help

Why dont you just buy 1 tire to get you buy until your ready to do a lift and tires?

Or find a random used tire with equal tread life

 

The previous owner was a "replace 2 tires at a time" person so in all honesty, both of my two front tires need to be replaced. Also, between a recent move, 10 week old baby, and my wife not working, my financial manager (aka wife) isn't going to bless off on my dropping the money on a lift anytime in the near future, but tires are kind of a must have, so I'm just gonna go ahead and bite the bullet on them now.

 

275s are a poor tire choice. 265s are lighter providing more mpgs and power while avoiding rubbing issues and are usually cheaper. Almost all 275s are heavy E-load, reducing mpgs and power, providing a harsher ride, costing more, will have rubbing issues and only provide 0.25" ground clearance over 265s. Seems like a lot of downsides for 0.25" clearance.

 

On my 09 DCLB I'm running 265/75 16 Cooper ST. These are the original ST and I've used 4 sets on various vehicles. Since they are no longer available I'll probably go to 235/85 16 Cooper AT3 this next time. Same diameter slightly narrower and lighter should improve milage slightly.

 

I believe that k02 comes in a 275 load range C

 

I was hoping somewhere around here would have them in stock, but no such luck. They'll be here Monday.

 

Nope. They do come in D-load though. But while checking I saw KO2s in 255/75/R17 come in C-load and weigh 46lbs, the same as the 265/70/R17, while being about the same size as 275s but narrower. May avoid some rubbing issues too with the narrower tire.

 

What did you finally go with?

How do you like your new grabbers so far sapperguy? Did you notice and loss in acceleration or loss in mpgs?

 

I just got them yesterday. Haven't had a chance to mess with them too much yet. I'll let you know after a week or so.

You will like them. No highway noise. Offroad I air down to 16 lbs no problem. Best bang for the buck, in my humble opinion.
