I refuse to except mine. It was brand new. Now it looks like it's been wrecked. I think I may try to trade it in.

It's not worth it. I've already filed another complaint with Toyota.

The hood separation issue has been around since 1995. Report it to your dealer. They will document the glue that holds the hood to struts underneath the hood has failed. Your truck will be sent to an auto body shop and the glue will be removed and replaced with epoxy.

Why doesn't Toyota rework this application? Because they think their sh.. doesn't stink. It's a Tacoma, and Tacoma owners have incredible brand loyalty.

I'd rather have mine rebonded than painted. No risk of it not matching and the factory paint is more durable than a repaint

Because I do not believe there is a "preferred method" or it would be a TSB

I agree just had mine repaired today at dealership. When I got home to inspect found white caulking on joints, not painted or touched up to match and they did not address all the broken joints. Looks like Duty to me. Will return to dealership again to have corrected.

Whats kind of ironic here is I have a Camry that they said if the dashboard becomes sticky within 10 years they will replace it, but a hood delaminating they will reglue it.

This has to be a bad lot of adhesive and cannot possibly affect all. Am I wrong ?

    +1 on fixing it yourself.

Mine was fluttering as well so I took it in to the dealership to look at/fix. They agreed there was a problem and that the problem was a separation of the factory dampening material. Unfortunately their "solution" was to wedge felt tape between the skin and the frame. It fixed the flutter at that location, but you could see where it was starting to separate at other locations and it was pretty obvious that this was not going to work as a long term solution.

When I got home I ordered two tubes of 3M 04274 NVH dampening material and a gun to apply it. When it arrived, I applied it into all the gaps. My hood is now rock solid.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
Anyone on here try LiquidNails to fix there hood? We used to use it i. the fire service to glue down Hydrant markers and when we had to remove one to put a new one the old one would come up with the concrete.liquid-nails-in-tire-bead.jpg
