Does anyone know if there is an input on the stock stereos to maybe add a front camera? Or am i just shit out of luck on that? cant ever tell if i pull up far enough in the driveway. dont want to hit my wife's car. also might be cool for off roading.

Was hoping there would be an actual solution to the question. Checked out the link above and his set up isn't bad, but not through the OEM info center.
Lots and lots of info on TW for 2nd gen along with a smattering of attempted wiring harnesses, but nothing that really works.
Has anyone been able to wire up a front-facing camera through the stock LCD panel?
    Thanks!

Trash the stock and get a pioneer 4200NEX or 8200NEX and add the cam.
You will also have Android auto or Apple car play.
    Superior.
I dropped it in mine and love it. Its like having an R2D2 riding with you.

In my younger days, I was all about the aftermarket deck. A little older now and perfectly ok with the stock unit. Just want to know how to add a camera.
If Toyota can install them on Tundras and Lexus', there's gotta be a way to put one into a Tacoma without the added expense of a new deck.

How does that head unit play with the truck settings, economy pages, etc?

Those selections are on the right controls. The pioneer unit uses the left stereo controls with the Maestro Rr interface.

i am in line with you on a solution. i seem to never pull in far enough when parking, would be nice to have it on the stock screen while driving. might try a high end car audio shop?

I attempted to install the harness and camera today. I think the camera may be defective. Once the harness was installed, the video app showed up on the audio source screen, but when I selected the video source, it showed a black screen. plugged the camera into the RCA jack on the TV with the same result; no video. So frustrating!

I got the Crux VIMTY as well. Connected the wiring harness as instructed. That part was fairly easy, but all I had was a black screen where the video should have been. I ordered another camera unit to see if that was the issue.
