For anyone having issues getting their usb storage device to be noticed by their truck and formatting their USB device using Disk Utility on a Mac/OS X, I realized that mine wasn't being mounted because the "Scheme" I was using wasn't supported. The default "Scheme" is set to "GUID Partition Map" when it should be "Master Boot Record".

I used the following formatting settings and folder names to get things to finally work:

NOTE: Those formatting their usb devices on a Windows PC would have likely been using "Master Boot Record" by default.

OK I got the screen modified and I hope I figured out the photo linking. It has been forever so here goes.

I got this to work, but a warning pops up every time I turn my truck on, so you never get to see it. Is there a way to disable the warning?

The warning is a required screen and no you can't disable. You power on it says Tacoma, the warning screen comes up, and then the new start screen. Then once you are all setup with your music you go to the Home Screen and then touch the Screen Off button and then it will display constantly.

Yeah I got all that work! And I understand why the warning is there, it'd just be wayyyy cooler if you could get a chance to actually see it when it comes up the first time! Oh well!

Three things that have been said, but make sure you've done.

    1. Format to FAT32
    2. The folders say: StartupImage and DisplayOffImage
    3. Only have three images in each folder.

I have attached the three I loaded that look great! Also how they look in the truck

    A couple more...

Thanks for the instructions, I did this last night. It is easy to do. The hardest part is picking images to use. :)

When does the off image display? I don't see it show up when I turn the vehicle off. And I've tried to press and hold and turn the radio off while the vehicle is on. And the screen just goes blank. I'm confused.

It doesn't display when you turn the engine off, it's when you push the 'Screen Off' option in the settings.

And it seems you cannot delete the standard Toyota image - looks like that will pop up every time no matter what?

I feel like an idiot. I found it... You have to press the button that says "display off" :bananadead:
