That I do. Pdx1's are the same just bonded.
I've done my ammo testing with ballistic gel and I prefer the performance of the black talons. Personal preference.

FNS .40 and a Streamlight TLR-2 HL. I still have it and have no plans of ever getting rid of it. In fact, I have since bought 4 more FN pistols and couldn't be happier.

My first was a Sig 229 9mm DAK. That started a habit. My wife's first was an H&K P90 .40S&W. Lucky her!

First gun was a Springfield XDm 3.8 .40
Sold it and have never owned another .40, I prefer 9mm and have a few .45. I just didn't shoot well with .40. 9mm is cheaper too.

This may be more than you asked for but, this is just my personal opinion and something I wished someone would have told me when I first start buying guns.

If you're new to shooting I'd recommend once you narrow it down to a few guns, going out and renting 9/40/45 caliber pistols.
You'll know right away when you start looking what feels good and doesn't.

With that said my favorite pistol is probably my HK VP9. Best factory trigger hands down and just feels right in your hand. I've upgraded all my triggers on my Glock's and M&P's but at a price of $120+

If this is going to be a home defense and range gun, don't bother with the single stacks for obvious capacity reasons.

I saw the Coast Guard emblem on your sig, not sure if Glock's blue label qualifies to Coast Guard but definitely worth looking into. They are discounted to around $450.

Night sights-Trijicon HD! That's all I put on my guns now.

Ammo- Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot and Hornady Critical Duty in that order. There is some other good stuff out there too, Winchester PDX1 Hornady Critical Defense etc. but you'll pay the same price for a box of 20, when you can find the other stuff online for a few dollars more for a box of 50.

Good luck with your search! Don't sweat it. You'll end up buy a ton more anyways. LOL

    One reason I choose HST...

    .
IIRC, Savage .22 bolt action was first rifle and first pistol was a .22 Ruger revolver.

Had several and grandfather gave me some too.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
My first handgun was a 10mm Glock 20C. Man I miss that gun. I'll probably end up with another one here soon. Wife has approved all gun purchases, so I am like a kid at a candy store, just don't know what to buy first lol. Here's a pic of what the gun looked like for those who don't know. Yes, it was ported
P.S not my gun in the picture, I sold mine a long time ago.16-G20C.jpg

Edit: Sorry about posting here. I didn't see the "Buying your first handgun" or "Firearm BS" thread

    I posted over there -> https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/buying-your-first-handgun.102511/page-7

    Hey double dee! Nice post.

I am a gun n00b. I'm not afraid to admit it.

In Maryland you are required to take a mandatory 4 hour HQL (Handgun Qualification License) course and then wait roughly 4 weeks for the MSP (Maryland State Police) to "approve" you. Once they approve you you get your HQL in the mail and are able to purchase a handgun.

I've shot a few handguns but want to shoot a few 9mm handguns at the range. Fortunately it's about 5 minutes from my house.

It will be a home defense and range gun.

    I like this one. XD(M)® 4.5″ FULL SIZE 9MM

Someone I know has the compact version of this but I would get the Full Size.

Of course if they have it to rent I will do that.

Stupid gun to get as a first hand gun by far. But my buddy had one so I had to get one too, naturally. I learned how to shoot it, eventually.
