The only rubbing, if you can even call it that was the small forward most mud flaps. But I think the truck looks better without flaps anyway.

So youre saying the "klunk" in unavoidable?! That is a SERIOUS bummer. I have rancho 9000XL quick lift struts w/ 1.75" front lift. Ive been looking into a higher quality strut assembly, and a full suspension bushing replacement in an effort to quiet the rattle / clunk noise.

How would you rate the ride 1-10?
    Highway 1-10
Rough paved road (asphalt ripples, pot holes etc) 1-10
Im going to replace my front strut assembly and im gathering as much info as possible

being as i have heavier than stock coils i'd rate it about an 8 it's not soft but not harsh either. at slower speeds you can feel the bumps a little but not i n a bad way on a rough paved road it deffinately took alot of the wiggles out and made the stearing way better of course the higher caster numbers you can get it helps even more i find it a much nicer ride all together and handling is much improved. i know they're not the high dollar big brands but to me a great improvement over stock

Hmmmm.. If you're on the fence about getting a lift or not instead of on the fence on which lift to get, then why spend so much money for something you'll never need. You said yourself that you couldn't think of a time where you've been offroad and wished for 3 more inches of clearance. It sounds like you aren't wheeling enough to justify dropping a couple grand or so into a lift. It's all about personal preference and needs. If you prefer the look of the 3" lift or want to be prepared or better off whenever you are off-roading, (and you have the money), then go for it. Chances are, it sounds like you don't really need a lift IMO, but thats entirely up to you. Just my 2 Lincoln's. Good luck

I've thought I might want a lift, but I really don't see a need for it for how I use my truck ( hunting, fishing, camping, exploring, etc), so I've kept it stock and it's amazing where I've gone with no lift. These trucks are very capable stock.

It's funny, I see lifted trucks of all kinds around town (most all shiney & well detailed mall crawlers...it's all good & to each his own), but when I'm out hunting & fishing, etc up in northern Maine....most of the trucks I see are stock. Just sayin'.

    .
I have installed lifts on several trucks. I have no regrets. The tacomas just set to low for me stock. Only issue I have had with lifting tacomas is my new 2015 developed the front diff needle bearing vibe/growl after lifting it. But it is caused by a design issue and the lift only makes it more noticable.
An beleive it or not toyota stepped up to the plate and fixed it for me with a tsb needle bearing that is doing great so far under warrenty. ECGS also makes a replacement for this needle bearing if you ever run into it after lifting. There is a giant thread on here talking about it. If you wanna check it out.
But dont let it scare you. I would still lift my truck again in a heart beat even if I knew I was going to run into this issue. But I dont mind working on my truck either. So that would be up to the person at hand...
I kinda wish I had went to a 6inch lift this go around. If you wanna call that a regret. Mainly because I have had several 3inch lifts on rigs in the past and no 6inch lifts. I just wanna try it out. If I dont like it after installing it I will take it out and reweld the front crossmember back in and go back to my 3inch lift.

I have 885/5100 with no spacers, and I only get the clunk on my passenger side. It's so weird because I only notice it over one particular speed bump.

You're correct that that'll fit stock size. However, it'll still look great with a lift on. This way he won't sacrifice MPG for larger tires since he won't really need them, and there's no way he'll rub.

With the wheels and tires on without a lift at fill lock the wheels rub the small front mud flap thing.

This is pre tire wheel install.
