If you get rear ended and have smoked tail lights I bet their insurance would try to blame you and your insurance wouldn't help you out much. But that's just a wild guess.

Op do whatever you want, but I always see people that tint tail lights in the same category as ones that install hids in reflective housings. They are selfish and have no concern for other divers safety.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
Seriously. One time I went diving off the coast. It was a beautiful day mid 80s so the water was clear and fairly warm. We approached 40ft down when I bump my head on a fuckin truck with tinted tails. Swam around and sure enough, fkin HIDs. Almost lost my goggles on this guy.

Ya I've never put those head lights on and never will. Your basis is that my brake lights won't show. Your basis is wrong. But thanks for your concern.

Damn guys. I'm with OP on this one. If done incorrectly, I agree that they're unsafe as shit because they're impossible to see. Judging by the pictures though, they look perfectly visible.

OP, I do agree with the others in that if you get rear ended I'm sure the driver can claim it's because of your tint, regardless of whether or not that's true. Something to think about.

    Anyways, that's my .02

I don't disagree with that. Kinda figured that going in. I live out in the country though. Buncha old people around here that severely look down on tail gating and I feel the same way.

I know why people are saying what they're saying though. A lot of jack offs just get a can of night shade and spray it on thick until is black. There's a lot more to it then that to get it right. Took me 4 or 5 hours. When I was like 20 I was that jack off in my dsm, but I've since learned.

Yep, I was "that" guy too before. Luckily I realized it was a bad idea and didn't have to learn my lesson the hard way. Anywho, it looks nice!

Is it bad that when I see people do this terrible mod to their vehicles, I wish someone rear ends them and get sued.

Here's an idea...tint the headlights while you're at it.

The best way to end this is Lovci to call the Hwy Patrol/ State Police in the state he lives and ask, he doesn't have to say who he is, don't call your license bureau they don't know the law. I am a retired MO cop and in MO it is illegal tail light lense has to be red. But I like it too and I'm 64!

They look perfectly visible in the pictures. When it's dark out, you really don't need a super bright light for it to be noticeable. On the other hand, if you NEED to see brake lights during the day to tell someone is slowing/stopping, you should not be driving.

Why would someone want to reduce the effectiveness of their taillamp visibility when we have enough morons out on the roads that are distracted while driving?

if the OP were to call the LEO department, he would be told that any modifications to the lamps (headlamp, taillamp or marker) is illegal. Manufacturers are required by DOT to produce a lamp that falls within the guidelines of FMVSS 108.

I see a lot of people in my area tint there's to the point of almost no visibility. No one gets pulled over, but it probably depends where you're at.

Mine are perfectly visible even in daylight. I may throw some LEDs in just for added light.

I'm on about 7 of 900 for my mod list. Tinted brake lights isn't very high on my list, but it does look good
